Lemming posted:I'm afraid you just have not been paying attention. Trump said that the lawyer in one of his court cases should be removed because he's Mexican and therefore can't be objective. I am not making this up. Then he claimed that, after a gold star family (their son was killed in Iraq) gave a speech at the DNC criticizing him, the wife was "probably not allowed to say anything," implying her husband wouldn't let her speak because they're Muslim. This literally happened. Trump had multiple lawsuits brought against him in the 80s because he wouldn't rent to black people. They would mark their applications with a "C" for colored and then deny them. They settled out of court. Sure, go ahead. I should warn you that I don't care about politics at all, though.

This is the logical way this goes because Palmer is worth less than positive for Facebook (maybe, I don't know what he does at Oculus at all besides being some poster-child PR person) if this is indeed some sort of scandal. So yes, active support of a political candidate should get you fired if it causes damage to your employer if you are the type to support the vague 'idea' that Trump supports. That's what makes this so good, the Trump way is to fire Palmer immediately and distance yourself from him to protect your earnings. Not me personally because I am cool and logical but logic goes out the window when it comes to Trump so Tom Guycot posted:As much as this feels like its blowing up, Facebook better come down hard and fast on the giant piss/man baby, or they're going to get stuck with an association to trumpism and racists.

I like oculus. I like the software, I like the games, I like the headset, I prefer it to the vive and am happy I went with it, but them not nipping this in the bud or letting it get tacitly supported would make me turned off of it and the company. As far as I can tell he hasn't even done anything in years, they have legions of brilliant programmers, engineers, artists, designers doing all the great work, even at the beginning he needed Carmack to make it work, but just as a mascot it would turn me off if they don't do something about this/him.

That is pretty amazing, although I want to point out one thing. He writes he encouraged Trump to run last election, but Trump would have had to get into the 2012 presidential race by late 2011 or early 2012. That was before the Oculus Kickstarter when Palmer was pretty much a nobody, so something isn't adding up.
