Yesterday I went to a bookstore appearance Kate Beaton was having to promote her new book. At one point, she had the kids design a warrior with her. After drawing the head, they get to the body. Kate : What should be on her shirt? A young boy :A sea serpent. Wait, no, a snake! : What should her weapon be? : A sword, but like a snake, that shoots portals to the dark dimension out of its mouth. : Does she have a belt? : A snake belt! (Kate drew a belt and wrote "SNAKE" on the buckle.) : Pants? : Snake pants! (Kate's giving up at this point, just draws armored pants and says that the squiggles are snakes from far away.) : Okay, and we need some kind of shoes. : Snake boots! : You have a lot of good ideas, but let's hear from someone else. (Ends up drawing cowboy boots.) Five minutes later. : I like snakes. : That is the worst kept secret here. : It's not a secret! The kid later went up and drew snakes on the cowboy boots. http://beatonna.tumblr.com/post/150775488845/we-are-still-rolling-this-king-baby-train I welcome the future BSS poster.

That Spider-man letter reminds me that Avengers issue.... 11? 12? Has a letter angrily declaring issue 9 to have RUINED THE AVENGERS FOREVER. I loved showing it to people who thought insane fans just came about after we got the internet.Uthor posted:Yesterday I went to a bookstore appearance Kate Beaton was having to promote her new book. That snake kid is going to write a kick rear end mini series of that gang of snake-themed dudes that show up once every 5 years when he grows up. I think I saw them last on AvX?

Oh, right, forgot that the squiggle on the snake's head is a ninja tattoo. I mean, a tattoo of a ninja, not a tattoo that a ninja would have. Cause it's a badass magic dark dimension portal shooting snake.

It's weird seeing David Boreanaz back when he was actually young instead of just playing a guy who's supposed to be young.

Angel holds up well if you don't expect The Wire (and ignore 90% of anything with teen Connor), and the 5th season is probably my favorite run of genre television ever. Aside from the Harmony-specific episode I find every single one a winner. And yet Firefly gets all the praise even though it was only ever "pretty good."
