I am pointing out, to you, that until such time as the Republican Party does not make "we hate Mexicans" one of its foundational planks, they will continue to consistently and overwhelmingly lose the Latino vote. Obama won them 71%-27% in 2012. The Republican Party's Latino outreach since that point has consisted of shutting down the government, demanding an end to birthright citizenship, and the political career of one Donald Trump.

Which of these three, in your opinion, is likely to have improved those figures?

so you're still being a goddamned coward about making a prediction, what a shock. Maybe you're not as confident as all that poo poo you keep writing?

The Republican Party will continue to lose the Latino vote by overwhelming percentages until such time as they stop pushing "gently caress the mexicans" as a policy, GBS rereg man.

That you hate people saying this, unfortunately, does not make it stop being true.

One thing I really hate about the rise of the alt-right is that yet more liberals have fallen into the trap of thinking neocons and Ayn Rand disciples are "reasonable Republicans" just because because they're not Donald Trump. There's no reason whatsoever to praise Bill Kristol's handpicked neocon just because he's not an open racist.

I think the alt-right is an empty shell with no ideas that can accomplish anything in government. I worry that their candidates including Trump are puppets for anyone with some sort of workable policy idea that might come along. I think this is the end game of the hollowing out of the GOP. It's hard to imagine any conservative government in the US that doesn't exist to serve big business, at least in the domistic pshere.

If Trump gets a higher percentage of Latino votes than Mitt Romney, then I will have been wrong, and will need to adapt. It's not a hard thing to do, really.

Had you tried it at any point in the last eight years, you would not currently be spitting "no, that's not true, that's impossible!" at someone who pointed out that Hispanics break overwhelmingly in favor of Democratic candidates, and this trend shows no signs of reversing.

Alt-right is a prop in political marketing that got thrown out there in desperate hope that somebody would take the bait and flock towards it.

Alternatively, it's a proof that people who communicate primarily through Twitter are isolated from the real world and have no loving clue.

Does everyone vaguely agree that somethingawful helped start the alt right? It feels like there was a distinct trend of posting "ironic" racism and sexism that slowly attracted people that held the same opinions but for real that then spun off into several external sites that held the 'ironic' values in real life.

Nope. They're a distinct group of morons and bigots who've coalesced as a movement over the last year or so. Whether they have any staying power as a movement is another question.

That isn't true, they do have ideas. Enslave the blacks and gas the Jews, and white women should have to act like women in the first season of Madmen.

(They just want themselves to be able to gently caress around not women).

Peter Thiel was given a major speaking slot at the RNC, so in some sense they remain a presence.

I'd say the general bloc of "rich tech idiots who don't think poors or women should be allowed to vote" is still sitting around, waiting to be cultivated as a donor base by a libertarianized GoP. It's not like there was ever a popular movement at their back.

SA feels like it has a segment of people that seem like they are maybe actually ironic posting then a lot of GBS threads where you can tell people are just inheriting the language FYAD used and just mean it now, then all the sites spun off seem to lack even pretending it's ironic. (Fyad had plenty of 4real bigotry too but it's the one place that when people said it was just role play I kinda accepted it as sometimes the truth)

The alt right are the usual social rejects who would be in a different time and place wife-beating machos, or recruits of some pillaging warlord. They have no political ideas, they are just instinctively lashing out against things they see around them because they are frustrated, feel like there is nothing they can do with their lives, and as a consequence feel insecure and emaciated.

One of the subreddits right now is named "FYAD: High school girls are posting naked photos to tumblr and loving black guys right now" and the top post in that forum is just the word "hitler".

And I do get it, fyad is a parody, it's one of the only things like that I honestly think the people are mostly just joking, but GBS often follows that lead and doesn't really "get" the joke and just posts the opinions, then by page 3 of every "ironic" sexism/racism/whatever thread it's always just people actual posting actual things they think. GBS couldn't go a day without talking about "troons" or "trannies" or chinese people or feminists or whatever.
