I'm assuming the NPC who gets the explosive thrown directly at him and just staggers is an important NPC in whatever game this is, so he can't actually die? e: also what the gently caress is the throwing animation, there's so much going wrong here

The reason he doesn't get ragdolled is probably because he's a "boss" character. They don't get thrown around by gunfire etc from what I've seen of the gameplay, because they usually have a cutscene after the fight that you have to go up and interact with them to start.
