Dirty Projectors are really amazing — Swing Lo Magellan is sooooo underrated, just as good as Bitte Orca in my opinion — but I'm not in love with this new track. Not sure what the pitch shifting "adds" to the track. I'm super interested in hearing a sped-up version and seeing how it contrasts. edit: someone already did it: digesting now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzgxiG1kB8A Polo-Rican fucked around with this message at 18:42 on Sep 23, 2016 |

bowser posted:I have tried introducing people to their music a few times and got bad reactions every time. I love 'em, tho so yeah, gently caress the haters! Honestly I was lukewarm on them at first, but I kept listening because someone whose taste I trust a lot had said that they take a while to grow. For me, their music was like one of those magic eye pictures where at first you're like "this is all just a bunch of random rear end nonsense", but then suddenly it snaps into focus and it's just a revelation. e: Talking about their earlier stuff. Swing Lo was a lot more immediately accessible, but still really good.

Currently cranking AO, always was really impressed that such a passionate angry song about what Sydney was becoming came from a dance/pop group. Y'all listened to I Had A Dream That You Were Mine by Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam, right? I listened to it front-back once on Spotify on Friday and made a trip to the record store to buy a copy on Saturday. It's that good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMB400o-1J0 is my personal favorite but the whole thing is great. It's the best parts of Walkmen and Vampire Weekend fitting together perfectly.

Emma Ruth Rundle's new solo album is streaming (Red Sparowes guitarist, Marriages singer/guitarist). Some Heavy Ocean was great, Salome was great, this sounds like a bit of both. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/emma-ruth-rundle-marked-for-death-exclusive-album-stream-a7329466.html sticklefifer fucked around with this message at 02:05 on Sep 27, 2016 |

rear end Catchcum posted:Why the gently caress would you want one I liked their playful lyrics and presentation, the melodic catchiness of their songs, and the unusually direct but faint spiritual connection to the Beatles. Also to a lesser extent their droning vocal harmonies.

I freaking love the new Warpaint. Their other records never really hit with me save a couple songs, but this one is pretty awesome all the way through.
