You need to post the last page or so that shows what Reed does later.

Besides that arc in the Heroic Age Avengers, the Illuminati was awesome. Not many of them left these days. Things aren't looking good for Stark, and Namor is still dead, right?

Does anyone have that post handy that went into why that "I slept with Madame Masque" joke was dumb, by the way? Because I remember the backstory to their relationship being pretty fitting for this thread too.

It was back in (Or possibly inspired) MelvinTheJerk's comic book relationship thread which is way back in archives, but the general gist is that they were both honestly damaged individuals who's relationship eventually became borderline toxic and deeply emotionally scarring for both parties when they separated. Tony being so flip about a major relationship of that nature and especially jokes about her face are out of character and in context actually pretty gross.

This is a great post from MelvinTheJerk from a similar thread in 2012 MelvinTheJerk posted:One of the things Marvel has always done well, perhaps better than the entire comics industry and especially in the Silver Age, was romances. Early Marvel characters in their origins had a habit of making their characters more vulnerable and human and so were their love lives in a way that still translates well and holds up to this day. The Hulk has a classic monsters tale. As Bruce Banner he was in love with Betty Ross, but couldn't be around her for fear of her safety. Her father dedicated his life to murdering him. Spider-Man gained powers that on the surface you would think would solve all his problems, but he was still a shy nerd at heart and spent years pining after the wrong women until Gwen Stacy came into his life and loved him for his faults. The list goes on and on: Reed and Sue. Hank and Janet. Scott and Jean. I don't even have to use their hero names for you to know who I'm talking about.

Holy poo poo. I feel bad having read the Bendis IM reboot with Madame Masque as the first arc's antagonist.

The first ones like that are always the hardest ones I find. Especially if it's with a 'Villain" character, because at some point, one of the writers is going to want that villain as a villain. Or someone will think it would be a good twist to have her return to villainy. That is, unfortunately, the problem with a shared universe where multiple writers are given a chance to write a character.

Has the scene from JLA: Trial By Fire where Batman talks to Patrick O'Brian about helping him save the world been posted before? I really liked it, especially the exchange he has with his son at the end of it.

I sadly don't have the pictures, but I quote the scene where Batman is saying to Plastic-Man how he always imagined him as the best dad ever. I even quote it to my friends from time to time.

Calling out Superman in Injustice is certainly inspiring, if it's the set of panels I think you're talking about. WW: "Superman is no despot" Plastic-Man: "He's literally sitting on a throne."

EDIT: ^^^^^^^ poo poo, THANKS So! I decided to look for it myself. You can get the full context for this here and here. First the thing Question wanted: After that scene, much much later, a long while after Plastic Man quit the Justice League and disappeared... A little later... We never see what's written in the letter, but it's easy to guess. As the battle rages on... And as things start looking extremely dire... site posted:Who is this plastic man guy? Is this a comedy book about a guy with Reed Richards stretchy powers? I could get in to that Plastic Man is actually a really old hero(Golden Age to be specific) and is more or less the first major hero with stretching or Shapeshifting powers(not counting magical heroes) as well as pretty much the most important superhero DC owns that they didn't create themselves(created by Quality Comics, who DC bought out in the early 50's) besides Captain Marvel(Fawcett Comics), and yeah a lot of his comics are comedic in nature, worth noting that he's also generally considered one of the most powerful heroes around(at least in the pre Flashpoint continuity), as there aren't many limits to his Shapeshifting powers(the Atlantis thing mentioned in those pages involved him getting blown apart into atoms and reassembling himself over a several thousand years period as time travel was also involved)
