The vast majority of TAGs, imo, are bad. They are cool robot mans, but they seem lacking. Lots of eggs in one pricey basket - Usually, the good ones are bargain basement, and closer to HI than TAG (Gecko), or the other end of the spectrum where they have a very powerful piece of wargear to boost them up (Marut, Avatar, Cutters)

I feel making TAG pilots specialists would help out a lot of the middling ones, and would create a benefit to being vulnerable to the most deadly hacking attack.

Admittedly my experience playing with TAGs is limited to CA and PanO, so maybe I'm spoiled. Even the simple Raicho is a lot of fun. 6/4 movement on a tough chassis, with a big gun and immunity to isolation is pretty sweet. I brought one to the ITS event I played in this summer, it was pretty successful. Top the the last turn of Firefight it finally went down to Doc Worm flubbing a repair roll. It was hubris, though. I didn't need to activate either to win the scenario at that point.

It also performed really well running straight up field with Kornak and a pair of battle butlers* to secure the middle of the board for the butlers to start capping objectives in the one mission where the board is split into three zones and you can cap consoles.

(*I like the raktorak sculpts - I know they're not the best specialists available by a long shot but Vulkan Shotguns are fun)

I like TAGs, but if it doesn't have a Multi-HMG or better it's kinda trash. I have a hard time respecting a TAG with just a HMG in the reactive turn.

TAGs without multi-hmgs pretty much are trash or or good depending on if they can enter suppression fire in a good location.

Unfortunately, that is really table dependant, and people often don't set up tables that allow TAGs to be good. It isn't truly any worse than people setting up tables that are lovely for WBs or snipers, but people seem to have more practice setting up fair tables for those models. Also, lists usually have fewer eggs in a given basket when it comes to stuff like WBs and snipers, so a lovely table can only screw them so much.

The NCA are basically the high-end non-knightly stuff from PanO, plus ALEPH stuff. Expect things like Swiss Guard and other TO camo-equipped units, plus PanO ballistic skills, but they have a total dearth of CC capability (I think their best CC unit is the Locust, with a CC of 20 and no skills), PanO's relatively low WIP (they'll probably be dependent on Devas to make up for that if they're doing so), and have a relatively weak hacking game.

Expect at least one KHD Hexas, because I'd bring one to take down Nomad hackers trying to exploit my weaknesses.

If my limited experience is at all representative, then expect at least a Swiss hacker, and probably a Fusilier link with two missile launchers. They got some decent buffs from HSN3 though, and I haven't had to fight against bolts, orc harris, or many of their remotes. If he's got a swiss guard in hidden deployment, he'll probably try and go on a first turn rambo with a bulleteer or something like that. I found them pretty good at locking down areas of the board, but outside of their really effective HI they are more of a defensive force because all they can do is shoot. He'll probably try and kill you on your active turn with some really strong ARO pieces.

Thanks for the info. It's a 200 point game, am I likely to see that many TO or Swiss Guard? I've been avoiding using an Intruder, because I'm still new and not so hot at using snipers effectively, replacing it with a Riot Grrrl instead.

I was thinking of using this list, but I'm thinking of dropping the Zero for something more useful. This list worked well for Coding Sequence but I don't think it'll be that hot for holding areas. And if my opponent will have more HI I should probably be putting more repeaters down.

AT 200 points you're more likely to see light TO units like Hexa with Killer Hacking device instead of a ~70 Swiss Guard. I'd say you'll see a fusilier link team and maybe an ORC or two and auxilia forward observers. So be wary of their huge templates.

Zero's are super useful because you can ARO and lay a mine, shoot, or dodge. Plus surprise shot is good against anything MSV1 or less. If for some reason he spams TO camo units, just drop a poo poo ton of lines, or send your Lunokhud after them. The flamer will burn off their TO camo, or you can use it hack HI through as it is a repeater, and you also have Crazy Koalas to gently caress them up.

Honestly your list is pretty nice looking - only thing I might suggest is try and get that Interventor a Fast Panda to expand your board control. The hardest part about learning Infinity and taking on new opponents is trying to remember all the tools you have in your back pocket to deal with things.

Cheers for the info, that's really helpful! Realised I put the wrong Bandit in there, it should be a Killer, not Assault, which frees up the two points for a Fast Panda. For two points cheaper, I figure KHD is better than AHD, if it's unlikely I'm going to be facing a TAG. If they try to hack my Lunokhod, I figure I should have a nice double punch of Breakwater + Redrum, plus whatever the Lunokhod and its Koalas do.

The alternative would be to drop the Bandit from a Hacker to Light Shotgun/ADHL and use the points saved to change the Jaguar to another FO Alguacil for another repeater, but I figure the Jaguar's template/Dogged could be more useful.

Not to stick my oar in, but I don't think its much of an issue. This isn't quite like, say, 40k, where if you haven't got an anti-tank weapon you are boned against a heavy-armour vehicle. Some fairly common weaponry and equipment like E/M, hacking, AP/EXP all make a TAG relatively vulnerable, and the perfectly ordinary weapons are also effective until you get to the ARM8+ things staying in cover.

What Genghis said, with the addition that I don't tell people that I'm bringing Camo or AD, so I shouldn't For TAGs. A 60pt model that isn't a specialist at this point scale doesn't win games.

Question that came up in a game tonight. Pertains to Kotail and Symbiomates/bombs. It seems like (and we played like) the mates and bombs are put onto the real dude, thereby revealing not only that your three kamael are not in fact kamael, but also which one is the original non-kamael. Nullifies the benefits of Holoprojector level 2, right (except of course, you still get surprise shot)? Is there any way I misplayed that and instead there's a way to assign them, but maintain the secrecy? Or should I start finding other ways to deliver my bombs?

If that's correct, I don't think it's too unreasonable on a 6-4 with superjump. Otherwise it might be somewhat unfair to try and prevent.

You can use holo 2 to disguise as well now? If so, hot drat. Kotail just got way beefier.

Also the anaconda joining caledonia (even temporarily) is awesome, I've always wanted to run one but didn't want the Frenches. Tartan armour here we come.

Yeah, Holo 2 now allows you to put up the echoes AND disguise them as someone else. Of course, it has to be the same dude with the same loadout, but still.

Anyway, yeah I certainly think it works out well balance-wise, just seems like an unintended interaction. Though hell, if it works well like that, it works well. And maybe that just means if I put bombs/mates on him, maybe I don't put holoechoes out, and disguise it as a different symbio-armor guy.

When HSN3 first came out I ran a proxied Red Fury / Hacker duo in a small tournament. I lost 2/3 games, but neither of those were because I took the Pheasants (both were to do with my Hsien deciding to fail armour saves in cover against combi rifles turn 1) and in the one I actually won the Pheasant duo killed a lot of stuff, including managing to get into melee and chop someone up.

I am extremely bad at Infinity, so this advice is probably terrible.
