As much as I love Awful Hospital, my eyes glaze over whenever there's a huge wall of text.

I'm still not sure: is Phage in on the whole turn Fern's son into a doomsday weapon thing or is he a different threat entirely?

Phage is one of the few people who's actually able to sorta-kinda understand what's really going on in his hospital (maybe he's just too weird for Fern's son's built-in Ignorance Field to affect him), which is probably why he's pushing hard to unmake the poor kid entirely. He's not able to do so, though, partly because of the communication breakdown caused by the loss of his staff and partly due to Doctor Man's objections, and he seems to be oblivious to both of these things.

So he's not on the Parliament's side and is probably the single biggest threat to their plans as far as they're concerned, but he's still in opposition to Fern because of his intentions towards her son.

Then, the whining artist with Patreon
And seething Tumblr grudge, drawing like snail,
Unwilling to update. And then the pervert,
Sighing and pumping, who with one hand only
draws their mistress lacking arms. Then, a zealot,
Full of opinions, and armed with the barb,
Jealous partisan, sullen, and quick on Twitter
Seeking a bubble echo chamber
Even with a rape chapter. And then, the old hand,
with fair round belly, or a famed expo named,
Their face pig-like, or head so very bald,
Full of trite gags, and modern pretences,
And so they play vidya. The sixth page shifts
Into the mean and miserable loon,
With fur Columbine or kokoro wish,
Their youthful edge preserved, words too many
For the shrink’s hour, and their big drawing hand,
Twisting again toward childish scribble, gripes
And meltdowns on their mind. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange shameful history,
Is newfound child-hate forcing an abortion
Sans words, sans art, sans taste, all ends in loss.

Thats actually a pretty neat concept for a villian, i might actually read through it since i stop reading around the start of the invisible killer plot thing. Is it worth it (probably not)?

I agree it's an interesting premise but probably not worth reading the comic. I havent been reliably reading it since the end of the invisible killer arc though :v:

at this point all I do is flip through the last few pages when I see people laughing about it somewhere because i can't resist finding out what new dumb twist just happened

The artist formerly known as John Campbell is very talented at putting people off. But considering their mental health issues, and the fact that I genuinely liked their old work, I feel more pity than contempt.

It's a lot more entertaining if you think of Campbell less as comic artist, and more as a performance artist.

"I'm sick and tired of reading these posts!"
While Awful Hospital does tend to get sidetracked by really winding adventure segments (did anything come out of the time Fern entered her own dead body? other than presumably loving poo poo up on one or more conceptual layers?) and combat sequences that I skip, Bogleech is amazing at the slimey, gross, biological art style that's really unique! There's also quite a bit of additional lore in the writing section for anyone interested.

I think that's what led to the Slob infestation, since they're the result of the discarded Exvironator wreaking havoc on all of Fern's alternate-self corpses. She also made some nice friends, which is nice.

But I agree, the whole bit in the morgue and beyond was kind of a slog.

These quotes made me realize that they deleted their tweet that linked to the tumblr post about deleting the wiki page about their breakdown during the Kickstarter. They replaced it with a new tweet, linking to a new tumblr of the same format (sam-hiti vs. normal-lee), which reblogs the initial post:

What?

I hadn't heard of Awful Hospital before and turns out it's extremely my poo poo so thanks for mentioning it thread! Stayed up far too late last night marathoning the whole thing.

Also, in an effort to contribute something that's not a bad post to the thread: here's two comics in the same "user driven horror story" vein as Awful Hospital I've really enjoyed, both by the same author. The art is nowhere near as good, but still the sketchy style manages to be fairly effective throughout.

Ruby Quest
http://evilcorporation.com.br/rubyquest/

Nan Quest
http://mozai.com/quests/NanQuest/

Nan Quest is better than Ruby Quest imo, but also far, far longer so if the art style is something that bugs you you might want to try Ruby Quest first.

The author also posted a series of Behind the Scenes posts on Ruby Quest (part 2 here and part 3 here) as well as an irc Q/A on Nan Quest that offer an interesting viewpoint on what it's like to run a user driven story. Check out the rest of the author's tumblr at your own risk, in between posting interesting stuff sometimes you open it up and there's just weird furry porn.

Yeah it's a pretty fun read- I do think the wiki entry should stay though, not that it matters. All of PFSC was collected during the initial meltdown anyway.

I get what they're doing with their thing but the idea that it is the role of individuals to feed the hungry and house the homeless through charity isn't anti-capitalist. If anything, it's like capitalism's in-house socialist ersatz - "the system won't do it, so the kindness of strangers must". It's also completely unsustainable.
