my family moved down to Atlanta when i was 9 years old and in school they started talking about blasting caps all the loving time. like they'd have specific days dedicated to teaching us not to touch the loving things and stuck with it until I was in high school.

i had no idea what the gently caress they were, where i might find them, or why such a dangerous thing would be lying around all over the drat place until years later when i had access to a search engine, but to a 9yo they sounded loving cool.

I think blasting caps were just the scary thing for parents to freak out about before Nancy Reagan got a bee in her bonnet about drugs

like swimming after eating, or razors in Halloween candy, or whatever. there's always some fad about the latest awful thing that's going to happen to YOUR kids

a lot more people lived on farms and it wasn't uncommon to have dynamite and blasting caps to clear stumps/stones from fields or whatever

yeah. allowing the handful of interesting anime things to be posted immediately will lead to 10,000 terrible anime things being posted and clogging up the forum

according to the institute of makers of explosives:

quote:

When the program began, hundreds of children were being injured or killed each year. Over the years, the injury rate has been drastically reduced, and for the last 10 years blasting cap injuries to children have been in the single digits in the United States.

Literature is not exhaustible, for the sufficient and simple reason that no single book is. A book is not an isolated being: it is a relationship, an axis of innumerable relationships.
in 1926 you could walk into a hardware store and walk out with a sack of high explosives, the fact that this is no longer the case probably had a lot to do with the reduction in child injuries
