The pawsting business is tough work.
Yeah, I bought one to rope a friend into the game. Being able to say "Here it is, everything you need to play a real game is in this box" is pretty fantastic. Plus there are obvious holes for follow-on sales expanding the armies as the player chooses, to make it their own personal thing.

My only complaint about the Onyx box and the upcoming Tohaa box is that they're for the lame alien factions, and not the cool and handsome humans.

The Tohaa box has no new stuff in it, right?

:saddowns:

I guess this is a good thing, since I would be pissed if they put a new shiny toy in a 70 dollar box.

Same as the Onyx box, it's aimed at newer players, not those who have been picking up stuff for a while.

Be careful of fireteams full of 1-wound guys. A single suicide trooper with a flamethrower or nanopulser can basically burn/dissolve the entire fireteam to death with one shot.

Yeah, I'd limit my fireteam to a 3-man max in a 150 list. Especially with troops more expensive than Ghulams.

Muyib fireteams are rad but definitely work on the idea of having a 14-16 model list where everything but your Muyib team is setting up a web of defense to prevent templates from vaporizing your fireteam.

With that team in 150pts you'll either win big or lose big every game.

The Oath Breaker's about to hit warphead nine Kaptain!
I wanted to base my Morat Aggression Force in wintery conditions for the narrative campaign my group is doing as it's set on the planet Dawn, described as 'rural Canada' with no jungles due to a lack of axial tilt. I knew that crushed glass has been the product to make snow for basically ever by old modelling dweebs but there are concerns over the safety of the product. Baking soda and other household products have a tendency to yellow over time so I picked up a product made specifically for modelling: Krycell Snow Powder.

Here's a video of the stuff (and other products from Krycell) being applied to a 1/76 Tiger tank.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tr59yQ6f2Uw

I primed some Dragon Forge Wasteland resin bases, painted them to resemble exposed dirt/hard mud you'd find in a temperate climate and then did a few coats of the Krycell Fine grade powder. I'm pretty impressed so far with my dudes!

Anyone put in much time with Xeodrons? Is the red fury with it, or does the multirifle give better mileage as an aro piece?

Red Fury I've used a fair bit and want to give the K1 some mileage. They're pretty brutal for their points. Haven't tried the Multi Rifle one yet.

Both perfectly good lists for 150pts in that format. What missions are you playing?

Only things I can think of are I would probably take an Azra'il with HMG, you are unlikely to see the kinds of targets that make a Feuerbach worth it.

The Hassassin list is fine, if you want to diversify later on, Govads and Fidays would both be good, especially in small games.

say for the Hassassins one, is it obvs because of the 0.5 SWC HMG?

It's obvious because of the HMG at all. That's the only profile in the list that can be an Lt.

I painted some dudes!

Started the Aswuang a few weeks ago, didn't get very far, and took a trip. Got back on Friday, and I've been on a roll since. Finished the Aswuang in probably eight hours or so, then start-to-finished the Malignos in about ten.

It doesn't show up super well in these photos, but the lines on the Malignos' bodysuit have a slight OSL effect on them which I think turned out pretty well.

I know these are some of CB's older models, but drat were they fun to paint. Putting together the Noctifer ML right now!

And some closeups of the Malignos, because I am ridiculously happy with how he came out:

My only real critique would be maybe some gentler gradients on the greys, but they do look great and I don't want to detract from that.

Clear epoxy is a thing and won't fog the acrylic bases like superglue.

Also, use glaze medium for the edge highlights and add a second layer of them.

I'm glad Derlix is posting, since I've been nagging him for years. :p CA won't fog either if you use a very small amount and keep the vapors from stagnating next to the acrylic. Visor is definitely my favorite part.

Thanks! I use mostly Vallejo paints. The visor is primarily Orange Fire, with a dot of Bloody Red on the bottom, then Gold Yellow and just a bit of Sun Yellow as highlights.

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom
If anyone's interested, I played the "gently caress! WEREWOLVES! gently caress! VAN ZANT!" game last night.

Toughest game I've played so far, realised I'd hosed up my deployment pretty much as soon as I finished. I'd deployed very defensively because I was paranoid about Van Zant, which allowed his Wolf team to run up one side of the board, taking out my Zero Minelayer on the way. However, the Zero acted as a pretty good speed bump - dumping another mine in ARO, he then survived one round of combat, so the Wolves had to spend another 2 orders killing him and escaping. In my turn I then had to pump a ridiculous number of orders into the Lunokhod to take down the Wolf leader, but this meant I could get my TR bot up into a good position (which is where it should have been deployed in the first place, really), which covered the second button he had to press and then slowed down his game.

He lost three models to ARO at the start of his second turn, so Van Zant eventually showed up on one flank, in a bid to force a draw by going for the secondary objective and taking out my specialists. Thankfully they were protected by a Jaguar with a smoke grenade, and he died in the third turn when he faced three people in suppressive fire.

I feel like I played pretty badly, so was surprised to win. Bad deployment made going after the buttons take far too many orders (especially when the Moira failed her first roll, needing 17 or less to activate it), but it meant that I could rely on denying him points after I had a few lucky kills of his specialists. On the plus side, my opponent admitted after the match that I'd pretty much neutralised Van Zant's ability to rampage through the backfield. After realising I was ahead on points in the final turn, a plucky Alguacil rambo-ing through 4 orders to take the second button on a 50:50 roll, and then try to take out one more specialist, let me extend my lead.

Next up is Border Clash, and I'm now tempted to try the Nomads Chimera. Anybody know of decent proxies? I really want to avoid the furries that CB are putting out...
