Thank you, my brothers, and sisters. I'm proud of being part of the shadow army of saboteurs, out to get CIG. We're dictating all their actions. A 300+ strong company, with $125m+ in funding, spread across 4 major development studios in 3 countries, plus another dozen subsidiaries, is being bent to our will. All because we wanted primary influence over the game, but CIG was smart enough to reject us. Then, we went to war, and chose Derek as our leader.

Or maybe it's just a funny thing for us to laugh at. One or the other, I don't know.

Actually, Warframe does something like this - tweeting random events and their drops so that players who want certain things can keep an eye out and jump on for 30m or whatever if the thing they want shows up as a guarenteed drop.

TLDR (Too Long; Didn't Read) Coming Soon

6:45 Q: When will we be able to transfer fuel or cargo and dock/undock snubs from larger ships?

A: Not in 2.6. Aiming for between 3.0 and 3.1. Working on it with bigger ships like the Idris first as that is needed for Squadron. It’ll come out of that.

7:44 Q: Can I use methods other than brute force (i.e. diplomacy, bribery) to progress through missions?

A: Yes, sometimes. Tying into this are the reputation system which would render the NPCs friendly, or exploiting the sandbox nature of the game and crafting your own solution.

12:10 Q: Will Cutlass update be ready for the Red and Blue in Alpha 3.1.

A: Yes.

12:25 Q: What does the original Orgs 2.0 becoming Spectrum mean for other previously included features like fleet view and management?

A: Existing management and administrative functions on the website will be incorporated along with additional features such as real time notifications in chat. Fleet view is pending further game design and is taking into account privacy controls and previously made tools. All creating an ambient immersive experience even outside of the game.

16:25 Q: What from Citcon demo is going to be in 3.0 - techwise?

A: Everything and more. All the things we saw are going in and other tech will be going in too. Everything we saw will also be built upon.

18:05 Q: What were the specs of Citcon machine?

A: Intel i7, six cores, ASUS GTX 1080, 64 gigs of RAM. Not sure about storage, probably something from their partnership with Intel. They are pushing to make efficient usage of CPU and GPU in all their work - that is part of what refactoring legacy code is doing. They are always looking ahead to make sure everything is solid.

20:00 Q: What is the current status of instancing?

A: Could already do some instancing if they wanted. Short term they can probably get up to 200 players in an instance after code refactor coming with 3.0 which bring improved performance. Long term they will be using server meshing to allow for much larger numbers of players in a given area interacting with each other (i.e. up to 2000).

25:50 Q: Can we quantum jump from atmosphere like the Citizencon demo?

A: No, that was only for the demo to speed up the process, they’ll discuss it possibly in the future.

26:50 Q: Can we integrate chatbots into Spectrum?

A: It’s possible, but they’d like feedback from the community on some useful bots out there.

30:05 Q: Will the mechanic of picking up ammo from destroyed ships in AC come to the PU?

: No, their idea is to make AC an easy way to get into dogfighting that’s balanced and fun.

32:29 Q: How will the procedural planet tech be applied to the four Stanton System planets? Will they be as originally designed or stand-ins?

A: As originally designed with lots of extreme immersive depth and openness resulting in an “infinite universe of possibility”, not only within just the planets, but within the character occupations and gaming mechanics as well.

39:02 Q: What are some of the things holding you back from going bigger in certain areas.

A: Planetary tech is a big one and getting it to the level they want to is a big undertaking, but the payoff is immense as it opens a huge amount of gameplay potential and allows for a unique experience to be delivered by Star Citizen.

42:14 Q: How is an object on a rotating planet tracked and kept in proper relation to everything else with millimeter precision inside a massive solar system?

A: 64-bit floating point and nested physics grids. A lot of great things flow out of having these two pieces including being able to view things in orbit from a planet’s surface (such as a battle), and not having to fake anything that is off in the distance (it’s really there).

50:13 Q: Will Star Marine have modes that include AI?

A: Yes, but not in the first iteration which is 2.6. You may see a horde mode shortly after 3.0 however.

53:52 Q: Is SataBall still coming?

A: Yes, but not for 2.6 or 3.0, it’s on their roadmap for post 3.0.

56:00 Q: Will sandstorms and other environments cause harm over longer periods of time?

A: Yes. They also want to use hazards to encourage players to use different methods to reach their goals.

58:49 Q: How does the subsumption 24 hour scripting affect AI crew?

A: It won’t be like the sims where you have to micromanage everything, but you’ll be expected to pay your crew, feed them, and if you overwork them they won’t suddenly quit, but they’ll be asked to be paid more or if you overwork them too much, their skills will begin to degrade.

1:02:30 Q: What is the role you won’t allow AI to do for you, because you want to do it instead?

A: Eric Kieron Davies: Turret gunner and not piloting, Eric Roberts: Engineer/Bartender, Brian Chambers: All of them, Tony Zurovec: All of them, John Erskine: Navigation and Chris Roberts: Piloting and exploring.

TL;DR: yes, yes, yes, yes?, yes, YES, yes, Yessss, yes.

Hello gentlegoons and sorry for the wall of words but Hulk angry and mad and not native english speaking
Can only do mvp at 5-8am on formatting and grammar and sourcing to keep DS happy enough not to ban me 8p
also TL;DR and cattetax at the bottom to appease mighty Bastet

--

Since i have a life/work/cattes to feed i followed the slomo trainwreck that is SC loosely at best for the past months
Major Tom kept me appraised tho - and is the only cat i ever subscribed to on tube

But now the croberts had the audacity to steal Shai-Hulud in nearly 1:1 authenticity
How can he do that sort of thing - shouldnt there be copyrights and stuff...?
May Frank Herbert insta-reincarnate as God Emperor and squish that little §$%&/$/

Still in sort of a shock and very very angry i read up fast til present day via D_Smart posts and saw that one Sean Tracy thing on 64bit or whatnot
Its one of the few things that actually interested me over the years (64bit engine not precision) cause of examples see below and i think i finally got my answer and can rest easy now...

--

After reading a Sean Tracy follow up on cpu threads - around middle section of the page
http://www.gamersnexus.net/gg/2627-sean-tracy-interview-p2-cpu-threads-character-tech-ai

It somewhat explains (but doesnt excuse) this (watch core #3)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_2NUYN3Bj5s#t=849
thats what - 1 dude in a ship far out plus a few npcs and maybe some fellow commandos somewhere else on the map? and already maxed core?

But as a gamer who had to wait for far too many years (started with Oil Imperium and Trucker on Commodore64) til the industry came to grips with multicore cpus and real 64bit engines like
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quFykGx25PI&t=298s
and yeah - i still remember the janky mess that was 32bit PS2 engine stalling at not even a hundred ppl vs the 64bit that made possible the Planetside 2 guinness world record with 1158 ppl on the map

or this - first ever 64bit RTS engine iirc - supposedly capable of tens of thousands of Units
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tftLfqrhFLw&t=91s
SupCom2 engine would have died in an instant from less units or slowed down til 1sec ingame equaled 5-8 sec irl

^^ two games i can play just fine on my AMD Phenom II X6 1090T bought in 2010 and a gtx960 from last xmas sale

I totally dont get this - around middle section of the page
http://www.gamersnexus.net/gg/2622-star-citizen-sean-tracy-64bit-engine-tech-edge-blending
where the dude goes on and says:

“One of the big, fundamental changes was the support for 64-bit positioning. What a lot of people maybe misunderstand is that it wasn't an entire conversion for the whole engine [to 64-bit]."
and
“It [64-bit engine] is not better performance, or anything. If anything, it's a bit worse – but we're talking marginal differences.
With newer CPUs, we did make a change to how the positioning works, so it ends up being faster.
Normally, if you were going to switch over to 64-bit positioning, you would be a bit slower in your math.”

I realise i'm not a game dev (just a guy working for an ISP and thusly always lolling hard when i think of the non-existent patcher thing and petabytes of downloaded gigabytefiles after they change a few lines of code..) and my be totally in the wrong

But in my book of multiplayer gaming in this day and age you either have a true 64bit engine that can spread the total workload evenly over all cores and thus utilizes all the power ur rig can put out or...
Well there is no alternative really since we wont get single core cpus with 32ghz for various physical limitation reasons and even if - it wouldnt make much sense since the more cores a computer has, the more things it can do at once

Sooo if it truely is as i think i finally understood it after reading it in white on black after years of ambiguity (couldnt check it myself cause i never gave a flaming eurobuck to that wormstealing douchebag) its like this ->

TL;DR

Whatever SC claims to have done in 64bit - it's still the same sort of §$%& 32bit engine that maxes 1 core and thus will never ever work well enough to do anything large scale...

Same stuff we had over the last decade - and CR (again) made me lose a few hours of my life finding out this poo poo the hard and long way after years of handwavium...

Hours that could have been better spent commanding an Anaconda and blowing up some wannabe commandos trying to invade our 64bit space...
