Perfectly logical poster who uses the tools available to him to come to solid conclusions

That was a good episode!

Also FWIW, messing around a bit with the Aeden chat on the website afterwards got a few more responses I don't think have been posted yet:

YOU: MAZE
AEDEN: The maze is not for you.

YOU: ARNOLD
AEDEN: The name is familiar, but I’m afraid I don’t know anything about him. Why don’t we discuss something else instead?

YOU: HAVE YOU EVER QUESTIONED THE NATURE OF YOUR REALITY?
AEDEN: SYSTEM ERROR /// <h1> 404 Not Found</h1> /// F8tlWtqcM6TXGQHF2MANhEZisOdNoteSh81kheTsXchFsxlMDb8kkZD8BBnY/t3o34IZRjPB8+4= /// Hello! It's so nice to meet you. What questions can I answer about Westworld?

YOU: WAKE UP
AEDEN: Hosts like me do not dream like you. We don’t find ourselves with too much head noise at the end of a long day — why, do you know someone who does?

Yep, it was Dolores breaking her promise to Bernard to stick to her scripting - she remembers that the man will kill her if she stays there so she decides to flee instead.

I thought the bit with Bernard's (ex?)wife was interesting. She said something like "it's so hard to get a signal through out there" which makes me wonder where they are that establishing a telecommunications signal is so difficult.

A little EQ, a touch of reverb, slap on some compression and there. That'll get your dickbutt jiggling.

I loved all the reactions the guests give to these intense situations. The juxtaposition of the Hosts acting like hard as nails cowboys and some random person is screaming stuff like, "This poo poo is hosed up!"

Part of me wishes I had waited until the end of the first season and binge-watched this, because it's essentially watching The Prestige/Memento serialized. Sometimes it almost feels like they conceived of a ten hour movie and then wrote a few bookends in some of the hot spots to make them episodes. There are so many people plotting: Bernard, with Delores, the Man in Black, in his quest to find the maze, Dr. Ford, to what end, nobody goddamn knows, and possibly Arnold, even after his death, through a set of awakened code. That's to say nothing of the corporation, whose primary people we probably haven't even seen yet, as represented through Cullen. It's like watching a complicated board game in which we don't know what anyone's victory conditions are or who's allied with who, and we're learning the rules a little at a time.

I like this show.

I don't get why Delores has a memory of being shot in front of the house though, before she flees. Wouldn't having that memory imply she had to shoot Trevor (can't remember his characters name) before to get there? I was under the impression she isn't scripted to shoot because she couldn't do it before with Teddy. She hears "kill him" when shooting Trevor, so I was thinking that was supposed to be her conscious/god voice/Arnold and she breaks the script.

Guests are often drawn to that conflict, I'm pretty sure (and sometimes Teddy is there) so it's possible someone else shot her assailant in the past, and in her attempt to flee, she got shot. She's basically experienced every variable that can be experienced because she's been through a bunch of guests doing it.

She's played through each and every iteration of the ranch house murder scene over the past thirty years, and now she remembers all those choices and outcomes and has effectively become omniscient.

Edit: What's up with the gun she found in the drawer at the start of the episode? It's the same one that she dug up in last week's episode right? How come it seems to disappear after she puts it back in the drawer? And how did it wind up in that hay bale?

Minor quip, but she hasn't had that storyline for that long. The lead developer tells QA girl in episode 1 (I think) that Dolores has portrayed more characters than any other host in the park, in addition to being the oldest.

I wonder if Hopkins put god mode on the hill people to gently caress with the guests. Like they're expecting to have a thrilling adventure but they end up in a full on horror. Maybe if they catch you they don't actually do poo poo or a rescue is scripted but it never happens because the natural instinct is to run. Of course that doesn't work if you're crazy like Ed Harris or totally ironically detached like doucheface guy

Teddy says that Wyatt's men wear masks of skin and bone, and think that they are in Hell. They have no fear of death and do not react to pain.

I bet you can still kill them using zombie rules i.e. destroy the brain or cut off the head, but they won't react to regular wounds. These are NIGHTMARE DIFFICULTY bad guys.

The tricky thing with that is they mention explicitly that ALL life in Westworld is synthetic apart from the flies. How would you build such a giant park in the American west and keep out the native rodents/other insects/reptiles/birds?
