Same. I like that they wrapped up that aspect of the story because you kind wanted the Congressman to get his poo poo pushed in. Sad to hear that Lincoln had a miserable life as a rover, the high note being a failed relationship.

Finished the game yesterday and while the story hit the right beats and the gun play and driving were pretty good I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed by the overall feel of the game. I felt like I wasn't really engaging with the city, rather it was a decor that I traversed while driving from one shoot mans/steal truck/beat mans mission to the next. Some scripted moments with random NPCs were good but too repetitive to really impress. The whole feel of it to me was like something that could have been so much more with more time and effort because gently caress if it wasn't fun as hell to blow dudes to kingdom come with the shotguns or shoot a grenade launcher at the "not-the-KKK".

I'll be trading it in because I don't see any replay value in it whatsoever, nor am I interested in paying for DLC down the line.

Watching the Angry Joe review reminded me that I ended the game with well over 100k banked. There was never a need to spend any money I felt. I was expecting things clothing to buy, or businesses to purchase, cars to upgrade. Does feel strange in retrospect. Overall I still really liked the focus on the plot and storytelling.

As an added bonus to the PC patch the other day, they've added in Steamworks integration for your save games. Which is good since they decided to put the save games in your /AppData/ folder instead of your documents one.

I think they've said that those are going to be free DLC packs, and then they'll just charge for the bigger story based parts.

It's like they're trying to get some goodwill out of free dlc, but it sounds like pretty basic stuff that should have been in the game already.

I'm 44 hours into my first play though, I'm about to go on the hunt for Sal Marcarno but after I finish doing favours for Vito and Burke, and I only have 3k in the bank and 700 bucks in my wallet.

Worked for CDPR and the free Witcher 3 dlc. That had a similarly rocky start with a lot of people upset that the released game didn't look like the E3 trailer.

Of course Witcher 3 is actually a very good game beneath all that, and Mafia 3 isn't particularly.

I had a ton of money until I realized that the favours you didn't get were available from the shop, buying all the car upgrades at 30k each drained my cash reserves pretty quickly. But yeah money is only used in the gun van since you get enough markers for the police bribe and stuff to never spend actual money on them.

Honestly the free roam parts are dragging the game down, in cutscenes and story missions the racism of the era is brought up but outside of no-blacks allowed shops, police response time & enemy barks racism doesn't exist in the open world. Where are the police stopping every black guy looking for you, where are the racists NPCs talking poo poo to black NPCs etc.? Though I don't think I recall any NPC interaction in the open world outside of 2 enemies talking to each other. If they had done what the other games did and just had you go though the story I think it would have worked better(assuming they removed most of the takeover busywork stuff), even if the story turned into a standard revenge plot pretty quickly.

I will applaud them work making Donovan an "rear end in a top hat friend" that I actually liked, instead of the usual "why haven't we killed this rear end in a top hat yet" one.

As far as Lincoln goes, that he never found peace or happiness is James's assumption to be fair. I think that to some degree freedom from New Bordeaux and all that poo poo is a positive unto itself.

I was surprised how hard it was to pick between the endings.

Nothing more than whats already been mentioned by other posters, the gunplay and story/voice acting I feel is excellent but the repetition, bugs and dead world once again killed it for me. I'm playing on PS4 and I've never had any issues with other games crashing but Mafia has done it 10+ times in the few days I've played it.

So after 47 hours I've finished it and I have to say I'm still firmly in the game's good camp. I was lucky in that I only had 5 real bugs to speak of ( two ctds, two instances of duplicated npcs in cutscenes ( the end of Cassandra and Burke's favour missions ) and a weed boat that went pinwheeling into the sky as I approached the mission zone, but reset after I drove around elsewhere on the map. I didn't have to push myself to take over the districts and I enjoyed just driving around the map. I do get the complaints about the repetition, but I felt that I was able to change stuff up enough to keep things fresh. I do think the cover system could have been a little better, I couldn't even get going around corners to work properly, and quality of life stuff like being able to switch shoulders would have been great.

I've been having a great time with this game, but today I load it up and it asks me to adjust the brightness/set the language etc as if I was playing it for the first time. Finished it, mechanics were great and the story was awesome violent pulp so long as you weren't expecting it to be a polemic on race relations or something. I think they maybe did have funding cut because the whole repeat generic missions thing got old, and the structure of the game could have been kept intact by replacing them with better, scripted missions.
