I don't have an airbrush setup. I doubt that I want to invest in one considering my 300sq ft apartment. I'm willing to be convinced though! I'm really starting to get into Gunpla building.

If your apartment has a window, you could just airbrush acrylics out it and use generic Windex as an airbrush cleaner. The caveat here, you can ONLY use acrylics. Windex won't clean up lacquer, and while spraying lacquer (or enamel) out a window will just stink things up, it isn't necessarily recommended. Plus you're gonna be using lacquer thinner as an airbrush cleaner.

Babby's First Airbrush Setup will run you $50 shipped on Amazon and is not awful. It's not the same thing as a tank compressor and Paasche Talon (sidenote: Paasche just literally gave me a brand new airbrush when I had problems with the fine-point nozzle I bought, because there was some weird thread pitch problem, everyone should use Paasche products) but it will let you do everything an airbrush does. It also teaches the skills you need and why features like a needle stop and adjustable pressure regulator are good things to have. But even without those features you can do perfectly fine beginner airbrushing.

Hmm, the cheapest hobby spray booth is only $90 and I could use acrylics with it. I'm definitely considering it now. What is the recommended good Paasch airbrush and compressor?

Also where do people read about and research these things? So I can stop asking dumb paint questions.

I think they read about and research it here sometimes. And yeah its actually surprisingly cheap to get set up! You shouldn't go ultra cheap because it might set on fire or leak fumes into your lungs so you die but I think $90 is a good price.

It's a grab bag of looking all around the place, though Major Williams is a good place to start:

Keep in mind that most preassembled hobby paint booths (as far as I'm aware) do not use a spark-proof fan, which means you shouldn't use them with Lacquer paints. Acrylic and Enamel should be fine.

I've been shooting lacquer and enamel through my $90 hobby booth since I unfolded it and have had zero issues. That said, I can't verify if the motor is spark-proof.

If you're handy, you could easily just build a booth, but it ain't cheap. I paid around $80 for this explosion-proof 265 CFM blower which should suffice to suck air across a 13x20x1 furnace filter for an airbrush my handy buddy is building for me: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KNZIWNO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That said, this is the compressor I use to great aplomb, even to the point of accidentally leaving it on for a few days and having zero issues (the compressor stops when the tank is full, and it's reasonably quiet): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001738DXU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is the airbrush I recommend: https://www.amazon.com/Paasche-TG-2...s=paasche+talon

It isn't compatible with the Iwata-type hose that comes with the compressor, so you'll need this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/Master-Airbr...irbrush+adapter

I went really cheap with my first airbrush spray booth. I bought a Rubbermaid container and cut a hole to place a bathroom fan over it and duct-taped it all together. So far I've only used acrylic paint but it is not a permanent booth. I just wanted a cheap one built to see if I'd even want to invest further into the hobby.

Hatters gonna hat.
If you feel its necessary to get an explosion-proof fan for your DIY spray booth, I fully understand. Nothing turns a girl off faster than you explaining that your horrific scars were caused because you cheaped out while setting up infrastructure for painting scale models of Japanese robots.

However, I'm of the opinion that a $20-$30 bilge blower is sufficient (unless someone shows me one that actually caused an incident). They're not quite as safe, but they're still designed to remove explosive concentrations of gasoline vapors from a bilge so your boat doesn't explode when you go to start it.

If anyone is curious what one of these accidents would look like, here's a slightly :nms: video of internet lunatic Colin Furze setting a propane leak on fire and then getting his blisters drained:

Huh.

I was already planning to get the Reginlaze, since hey, I like the Graze well enough, and it has lots of guns, but looking at the skeleton...

I'm pretty sure that's a completely new inner frame.

Compared it to the Graze and the Grimgerde, didn't look like either.

I assumed this would be a Barbatos/Lupus situation, but it seems like... not.

It just moved up on my list, I think.

Given that it's the successor unit to the Graze, giving it the exact same frame would have been a bit of a shame.

I do like how it incorporates design elements from every single (Gjallarhorn) Graze variant - there's even quite a lot of Graze Ein in there. The Hyakuren elements are a little more mysterious, though - perhaps there's been some behind-the-scenes cooperation between Gjallarhorn and Teiwaz since McGillis's ascendancy?
