Like, the current PM of the UK has been suggesting socialist policies, with a nationalist bent. A sort of National Socialism, if you will.

You haven't been keeping up with UK news have you?

Social Security is being gutted and no longer actually provides a safety net seeing as how it can be cut for things like attending your own disability assessment because if you're capable of getting there, you're capable of getting a job etc.

The NHS is also similarly being hosed and there is probably going to be a massive brain drain of doctors thanks to new contracts being forced on them, not to mention funding being cut to LHAs and general starve the beast tactics.

Worker protections and minimum wage are no longer a problem because zero hour contracts, of which a huge amount of jobs now use, skirts these by hiring an employee to be an entirely at-will consultant who isn't even guaranteed a minimum amount of hours, let alone anything approaching protection.

And the unions haven't been as strong as they should be since Thatcher and anti union laws were passed, such as the banning of sympathy striking.

You seem to be viewing the UK with a sort of post war idealism, which coincidentally is how a lot of Tories view it.

I think you are going a bit far there. I do think the Tory government has been bad, and there is a lot to worry about for the future but things are not the terrible bleak wilderness you are projecting. The economy has been in the shitter for years and it wasn't the tories who put it there, but that said they have not cut the NHS as much as they have pretty much everything else. It is the weird belief that somehow the country has gone to the dogs that lead to many voting for brexit. Things are not that bad, and they are not that different than they were in what ever golden age you imagine we had been in before. Things can be bad and not going the way you want without it being the end of the world. If you get cancer then the NHS will treat you, if you loose your job you can sign on for benefits. Both of those things are not being done as well as they should be, but they are being done. Get a grip. I thought it was for the right wing fantasists to declare everything to be doomed.
