I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the referee's room post-match when Owens and Veldsman start talking. Owens will have some feedback for Veldsman, methinks.

Lacklustre Hero posted:Wow what a loving cowardly call Yeah. That was loving dumb. Savea (J) can't tackle anyway. Anyone else may have had a legitimate claim, but that should've been awarded on that. However, the blatant neck-roll clear-out two(?) phases earlier should've stopped it anyway. Consensus on Coles' non-try? I was at an RSA and the diggers were calling loudly for blood, but I don't know the letter of the law there.

Welp, Keith Earls just got a straight red for a tip tackle in the first game since Anthony Foley died. The crowd are apoplectic, but it looked fair enough to me.

The Rabbi T. White posted:Yeah. That was loving dumb. Savea was gaining and had options like a possible ankle tap to prevent Speight's try. Haylett-Petty clearly altered his line to interfere, and that creates enough doubt as to whether or not he had an effect on the outcome there. Veldsman was right to raise this point with Owens when he did. No amount of huffing and puffing from Cheika or the Aussie contingent will change the fact that the only person to blame was not the crowd or Owens or Veldman or Savea or anyone else, but Haylet-Petty, and Haylett-Petty alone. Munster were great today, Glasgow looked like they just didn't want to be there, just couldn't get themselves up for the match considering the occasion. Earls is a fuckwit and his whinging as he walked off after spearing a man on his head was childish.

Scotland squad announced. It's pretty much as expected though WP Nel is out with a neck injury and Matt Scott is likely being held out by Gloucester over an injury insurance dispute between the club and the SRU. No Sean Lamont may signal the end of an era too. Laidlaw remains at scrum half probably due to his kicking and ability to read a game pretty well but it highlights the serious lack of depth at 9 for Scotland. Good to see Watson get a spot too, he's probably Edinburgh's best player at the moment and walks through tackles on a regular basis. The Rabbi T. White posted:Consensus on Coles' non-try? I was at an RSA and the diggers were calling loudly for blood, but I don't know the letter of the law there. Did Coles face sanction for shoving whichever Wallaby it was that turned over the ball to start that motion's face into the turf? Edit: It was the Wallaby #6. I just got around to watching the game and can't find mention of punishment anywhere. I guess a better question is where should I search for Disciplinary Board decisions? Mister Chief posted:First mention of that I've heard. It's right at the 71 minute mark, so I guess it was the Coles try that was. The commentators laugh about it on replay a few minutes later. I will try to link a video when I'm not phone posting. Edit: Skip to 1:37:30. It's kind of a fair non-call after Hooper planted Coles a few minutes earlier after he offloaded during the second Savea try. My question about where to look up World Rugby Disciplinary Board decisions remains. Stitecin fucked around with this message at 07:13 on Oct 27, 2016 |
