This is dull rear end poo poo when I saw it was just Doom shooting or whatever which was stupid of me because I thought the first one was genius and I should of known they would really amp up the puzzle part of it to make up for not having to pull off full mouselook tricks. Basically the same. I used to be a very firm belie er that 3 dimensional space requireda full usage of all axii to evolve games, and championed mario galaxy for this, but after a while i realied that 2d or faux 3d still have ways to be explored. Despite this i still prefer full mouselook and spatial movement, but the game isnt bad and now i wanst it

I was thinking about similar stuff while playing SH1, that I wish people didn't wholesale abandon fixed angle game design after one gen because it allows for more creative direction and art design if it's used well. a high budget fixed angle resident evil game could be amazing today

That initial alley run in sh1 where the camera twists is still one of the coolest psx moments for me. Also yeah, part of REmake relies on hiding threats due to camera angle for greater tension. I dont know if whe shoul d look to cinema for effective design, buit sice its a stylistic option, disregarding it completely dfeels like a short sighted stance

I been watching Lord Aris play RE HD every so often and there's a room where you walk in and there's a wall mirror with a zombie on it and of course you see the zombie first so you start to run away from it but you run into it behind you. I don't really get into games like that but I thought that was epic.

It doesn't just have to be cinema too, like, Night Trap was actually based on a play called Tamara where you followed the actors from room to room.

It would be cool if some developer rips off the Godard shot in Farewell to History where the two screens of the 3D image start tracking in different directions so each eye sees different locations, and they do it in a VR headset so it has the effect of mind hacking somebody and making them vomit

I thought it would be cool if someone made a descent style game but good as opposed to bad. Like a space game but without arbitrary speed limits or slowing down when you don't thrust so you actually have to think about how you move. Instead of what most arcadey plane games or space fighter games do where you just turn in a corkscrew trying to shoot someone

Galak-Z had movement like that on a 2D plane but instead of taking that and designing a fun game around it they made it a randomly generated roguelike with loot boxes.

You know I've seen a lot of people talk about that game and they always have bad stuff to say about it but it's alwasy like oh it had loot boxes or oh it controlled weird, for some reason nobody thinks to mention the Scary bad voice acting / D tier anime writing that is has and also its art style loks like dog poo poo and that stuff immediately turned me off from caring about the rest.

Would be neat if they designed a horror game or something where the lose condition is just some horribly jarring stuff that'd make you instantly throw up. Like a more accessible version of the PainStation .
