It just pisses me off because these people give all small shops a bad name.
So many lovely shops giving the few good shops a bad name. I'm not sure what the deal was with the brakes and backwards tires since this shop has been good for everything else and has done a great job on my brothers 524td. They were going to fix the exhaust on their dime (take it to an exhaust shop) but with the brakes not working it was un-driveable. They've offered to cover a trip to an exhaust shop to have the leaks fixed.

E21 is almost ready for fall E30 meet. Have to plug the gaping hole in the firewall from where the a/c was removed with aluminum tape, maybe toss narrower spacers in the rear, swap wheels/tires site to side and make sure the battery isn't going to poo poo the bed on me in the middle of nowhere. Might deal with the exhaust leaks if I have time, haven't driven it enough yet to see if it'll make me nauseous from gas entering the cabin.

Same, but replace 'pulled out after 2 years' with 'sat in a cupboard for 2 years'

We used them a whole lot but hated every single call as we had more problems and failures than successes. Also the fact the cameras hung down in front of the screen meant that in the software it scaled any external input and shrunk the image meaning that huge 65" screen wasn't getting utilised properly and it was at a lovely resolution that never looked good.

Garbage systems.

...and I was disappointed when they got taken out because the screens weren't bad, we pulled the stands to pieces and parked the now nude (Panasonic iirc) displays in our disposal area for some other person to nab. :'(

This is good to know. With the Marvel movies starting to hit odd fringe stories for people like me (not a comic book nerd, but someone that finds comic book stuff entertaining) I will still go see the movie. I am going to go with a buddy because my wife has watched the trailer and was like "meh". I have not seen a "grown up" movie for a while so it'll be nice to turn my brain off for a minute.

We had a vendor in visiting from Japan yesterday so basically got to be out of the office for most of they day. Went up to a ski resort for some lunch at a cool restaurant with an awesome view. We then went to a newly opened Top Golf and did that for a couple of hours. I have never been before and I am not a golfer (I have been once). I really enjoyed it! The games are pretty cool to play and having your own booth where you can just lounge and chill out with some food is a good time.

I apologize for no before pictures, but I am working on this thing in 1-2 hour snatches of time. Usually either minding a toddler or after toddler is in bed.

IIG drops bike off and its plumbing time!!

The pump was previously mounted on drywall screws, 3 out of 4 anyway.
Now has bolts, locknuts, mounted to lightweight plywood, mounted that to cabinet with drywall screws (reduce/reuse/recycle, heh)

There was no fixed supply plumbing or drains. The pump was feeding from a vinyl hose stuck through the top of the tank fill.
No way to empty tank for a rinse or storage.

I only get one drain installed.
IIG gets back to the scoop.

Is it old enough that maybe the gas for the pilot stayed on after the pilot went out?

When my parents tank let go, it popped at the top around the flue, and much of the water ran down to the burner. That one was only 12 years old or so though.

No clue. I wasn't home, and everything was off and everyone gone by the time I got there.
It was dribbling water all day yesterday (left the hose hooked up.) Tried pressurizing it today after the plumber showed up to get all the info for the estimate, and still only got a little out. Finally ripped the valve off (some kind of oddball inline plastic valve instead of a standard hose bib) and was able to see... pretty much solid scale/rust. Rodded a hole through that with a chop stick and got a bunch more water out, and it didn't hold pressure as much when I blew air into the inlet. Some small drips without the hose, so I think it's finally empty.
Plumber ballparked $1500 just for the plumbing, mainly all the code updates (pan, water sensing shut-off, CO exhaust vent to attic, water shut-off valves, gas lines/valves, etc.. Pretty much everything, since this thing was from 1964.) At least the vent stack is already double wall, so it's OK.
Ugh. Home ownership, yay.

no, but I can tell you that the loving numpties at the location near me took a whopping 2.5 hours to drive my shitbox jeep in, jack it up, take the wheels off, balance them on a computerized balancer, and put them back on.

I budgeted a half day of vacation to have my tires balanced and run 3 other errands and only accomplished half of that because of those feckless retards. Never, ever going back, even though they told me all about how it was a lifetime balance and I could come back anytime for a rebalance. Hell with that, I can drive it to a friend's dad's house and do it myself in half that time using his balancer, even jacking each corner up myself in the driveway.

:agreed: I liked the donut holes that you get to inject yourself. That was a fun idea. I also think it would be spendy by yourself but seeing as you can squeeze up to 6 people per booth and it is just hourly and no rigid format for players and games like Bowling etc. it was a chill experience and the way that it all works by registering your balls and where they land and the little dispenser thing was cool as hell. Not one glitch or one complaint. Bonus fun stuff is that there are three levels and the top is 21+ only with sports games et al on a bunch of screens everywhere. It will probably be the go-to place when entertaining other vendors coming in from out of town.

I go over there, it's dead. Battery is charged 50+ volts, but nothing.
I unwrap the electrical tape from the battery quick disconnect plugs, and the positive terminal just falls out of the plug.
Severe arcing is evident on both plugs; they were crimped only connectors and cheap as hell at that.
I uncrimp, disassemble, refashion and tension plugs, and resolder the wires into the terminals. Didn't get any pictures because I was under the gun.
I did manage to pry the battery box out so we can look at the mighty home of the electrons! Nice battery box, lets see what's inside!
Oh. great, the battery just banging around in there crushing the power wires and charge wire. cool. That will be fine for a 1000 charges or so, right?

That night we pull the freezer off to reinforce it's mounting. It was held on with 3 sheet metal screws.

About halfway to school this morning I suddenly started having to shove the stick way farther forward than it will normally go just to get it to go into gear. And of course I couldn't get off campus til loving 10:30, so every gear change was a goddamn anyeurism-inducer as I wonderd if this would be the one where the bolt fell out. Now I get to play the game where I see if I can get it to a shop (because gently caress apartments) and get it fixed before tomorrow night, when I'm supposed to go meet up with my dad for his 60th.
