Tim Whatley posted:"It's only breaking the law if someone else but me does it!" I bet this dude has security cameras all around his house and bitches to his neighbors about his property line and poo poo. To my knowledge, no. Some cast members I know at Disneyland have claimed that guns have been pulled, but I'd imagine someone would have found out if any shots were actually fired. I think there's just something about Disney that discourages any kind of potentially lethal violence. Nobody but the absolute craziest motherfucker wants to be known among his buddies as "That guy who stabbed someone in front of all the kids at the Magic Kingdom".

Well, it did happen twice that I could find. (granted that was 20-30 years ago, but still! It happened and therefore a gun is justified, right?)

Back to my topic of firearms and Disney.. An Alabama woman had a loaded pistol in her backpack Monday when she tried to enter Disney's Animal Kingdom, officials say. Baleigh Turner, 23, was the second person accused of trying to bring a concealed weapon into one of Disney's parks that day, jail records show. Disney has a strict policy prohibiting guns from their theme parks and resorts. Deputies said Turner once held a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Alabama, but it expired in January. Even with a permit, guns aren't allowed in Disney parks. She was arrested on a charge of carrying a concealed firearm, according to an arrest report. A Disney employee found Turner's weapon — a purple and black .380 caliber Taurus pistol — while checking her backpack about 11 a.m. at the entrance to Animal Kingdom. Deputies said the gun was in a holster and loaded with a six-round magazine.

No bag line automatically goes through the stand up metal detectors. But yeah I honestly think they should MD everyone. I saw the Reddit post from some fucker who was bragging about it and justifies it because he is protecting his family. gently caress you asshat if poo poo goes down you would probably leap into the nearest waste bin and hide like a bitch popping off rounds into the air.

In my recent experiences, the no bag entrance has been putting everyone through the metal detectors (it takes no time), and incidents like this make me glad they do. loving gun nuts.

I will gladly give up a few more minutes to run everybody through a metal detector. Hope they just stick with it and this isn't just reactionary

I am fine to walk through a metal detector every time I come and go from a park. No one needs a loving gun at Disney, permit or not.

Wish me good health. Story: at at Flame Tree BBQ today at AK. Felt ok...then omg no. Nausea, clammy, hives, felt faint. Had to lie on the ground near the bathroom. Had some excellent cast members call 911 and I got to get wheeled out on a stretcher. Had some kind of allergic reaction to the food- no one else got sick. Wish I knew what it was so I don't ever eat it again. Got a free towel out of it! So, I guess that was a win. OH, also husband got to see some of the Pandora stuff behind the scenes ("we got a "pardon our dust") as we were escorted backstage- I was in no state to care. Hoping tomorrow will be kinder- fingers crossed.

Wrapped up the Disney portion of our trip yesterday at AK... I thnk the consensus for us is that next time we'll skip that park unless we do a park hopper after a day at DHS. Too much walking, not enough interesting content, only one good ride.

AK is a very strange park because moreso than the others (excepting possibly Epcot), the ridey rides aren't the point. Multiple trips through Kili Safaris, leisurely walks through the animal trails and the Oasis, and generally checking out the great theming of Harambe are the highlights. If those things don't appeal, yeah, it's not an awesome park and I don't blame anyone for that. If they do, though, there's very little else out there that comes close to what AK offers. If you passed on the shows, though, you made a mistake - Lion King, Flights of Wonder, and Finding Nemo are all really great, charming shows.

Orlando goon here. I've got a friend who might be coming over from Europe for a week and I'm trying to figure out a plan for how to show him around. Disney is sort of our claim-to-fame so I was considering it (despite the fact that personally i'm rather burned out on the place having grown up in the area), but I'd rather him experience Orlando and not just Disney. Any advice on whether it'd be worth getting a 1-day for one of the parks just to give him a taste? If so, which park would you guys recommend?

I don't actually know how much overlap there is in attractions between the two so that might be stupid thinking on my part, though.

On paper the parks seem similar but they're pretty different. Even attractions of the name normally aren't clones. I've the E tickets of the 3 other parks in 1 day but I really wouldn't recommend it.

I don't know why but I always just assumed Magic Kingdom was more or less the experience you'd get if you went to any of the Disneylands around the world. A misconception likely born from the fact that WDW is the only Disney park I've ever been to.

If you friend hasn't been to America before the culture difference alone will make it a new experience. If you're worried about overlap you could do Universal instead?

Yeah he's never been here before. But actually I think Universal might be a better idea. I somehow forgot it existed. It leaves WDW an untouched adventure for if he ever comes back this way again. Thanks.

Definitely get the universal park hopper. You can do both parks in one day and Islands of Adventure has some fantastic attractions.

I'll admit to being really hard to impress, zoo-wise, having grown up next to two world-class zoos. It takes a lot more than a rickety bus tour to impress me... after playing with a cheetah, tickling a bushbaby, and feeding sloths there is a really high bar set. Nope, we did all the shows, we had an AK virgin with us. I still prefer the Lion King parade at Disneyland to the show. AK just doesn't do it for me. There are other parks that I enjoy and that's fine. We were breaking down Disney portion of our trip on the way to the second piece of our Florida trip; this trip was a day each at EPCOT, DHS, and AK, with two MK days. The consensus was that had we done it differently, we'd have skipped AK and done another day at MK.

Though, it proves why I can't wear a wig on a daily basis, my massive head vs the wig cap gave me a nasty tension headache all day. I will say I did get to be Ariel for a little girl wandering through my work, she saw me and her eyes were so big and I waved and waved and smiled for her - it was really heartwarming.

I'm trying to understand something about Space Mountain; reading about the 2009 refurb they said they put a cover over loading for the trains; did that mean that before 2009 you would be looking up and at the coaster itself?

If I remember right the whole load area was uncovered, but you couldn't see much. There were queue TVs playing fake commercials too. They redesigned it to reduce light bleed and make the coaster darker.
