For nearly two weeks last year, the FBI operated what it described as one of the Internet’s largest child pornography websites, allowing users to download thousands of illicit images and videos from a government site in the Washington suburbs. The operation — whose details remain largely secret — was at least the third time in recent years that FBI agents took control of a child pornography site but left it online in an attempt to catch users who officials said would otherwise remain hidden behind an encrypted and anonymous computer network. In each case, the FBI infected the sites with software that punctured that security, allowing agents to identify hundreds of users. The Justice Department acknowledged in court filings that the FBI operated the site, known as Playpen, from Feb. 20 to March 4, 2015. At the time, the site had more than 215,000 registered users and included links to more than 23,000 sexually explicit images and videos of children, including more than 9,000 files that users could download directly from the FBI. Some of the images described in court filings involved children barely old enough for kindergarten. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2016/01/21/fbi-ran-website-sharing-thousands-child-porn-images/79108346/

I just saw Clinton on the TV saying that Comey released the news that they were looking at more emails to republican members of congress first. I assume that's not true ?

Strategic Tea posted:I think it's pretty bad that a presidential campaign can be derailed over whether someone sent an email from the wrong address. Even if you don't like her (and I don't particularly), do you really want to spend absurd amount of tax money establishing whether sending emails with bad security practise was done on purpose or not? Yes. Quite frankly, if she weren't rich and connected but an army sergeant, she'd be in loving jail. While both leniency and the normal FBI practice of jailing idiots for a decade for a mistake are both insane, in any normal first world country this would spell the end of any high level political career, let alone the head of state. EDIT: To put this mildly, this isn't like accidentally stealing office supplies. This was a massive oversight on handling info on classified documents, the type of poo poo that gets people killed and blows billion dollar goverment ops

Man these are so boring. Every time there's a Clinton investigation it's always "Well maybe the spirit was violated but not the letter of the law but there's not really much to go on after this year-long investigation so faaaaarrrrrrt." The only time a Clinton investigation went anywhere was when they proved Bill stuck a cigar into an intern's vagina and then lied about it. I look forward to a revelation of nothing at all and everyone to post insightful comments like "yeah well I mean of course she's terrible regardless, we all knew that already."
