I have so much trouble starting DR2. It seems to be vastly different from DR1. I guess i should just keep going with it. Also got spoiled just by seeing a picture of a figurine from DR2. Hope that that isn't major.

New Vita firmware 3.63 is up. If you're on 3.60 or lower don't update obviously unless you want to lose homebrew / If you're on 3.61 and missed the earlier exploit, I'd not update. Just don't update unless you absolutely need something.

Wow that framerate drop for SOA. That's absolutely terrible. Neither HF or LS had anything remotely close to this bad - even in the busiest of zones/fights, just getting a few hiccups.

And that's a wrap of Trails of Cold Steel 1 Helluva blink of an eye going from what you were doing into the credits but I was okay with the way Half-Life 2 did it, I'm okay with this one. Would have been pissed to wait until October for the sequel had I picked this up in January though. Games weren't better before, the good ones just got rare. I've played many serious business all-serious games with stories going nowhere near this deep in thought and detail. It really stands out, quality piece, if there was a flag to check for skipping cutscenes and conversations (beyond hammering X/O) I'd go grab myself the platinum in appreciation of it. Final chapter notes: Dug the mad dimension of madness and its boss, another one that felt fair and balanced (and easy). Really great encounter tuning I think, nothing like Star Ocean 5. Adorable lovely scenes of festival and dance. Then Garrelia Fortress, we get that figured out in the sequel right? And then everything on the day of the radio broadcast, WOW. Two losses at the final fight until I figured it was meant to have you playing it safe and using Morning Moon whenever up. I'm going to miss it now that I'm done 5/5 actual best reason to get a cheap PSTV if you see one on the shelf (58% of trophies, 73h40m on the clock, played over 17 days, no sensation of time being wasted by design or backtracking like Star Ocean loving 5 which still took 28 hours for my slow rear end) HGH posted:You're in luck, XSEED is one of the rare JRPG companies that go in depth about it: Thank you very much, I love informing myself about these subjects! You kick part of their asses but they remain in the background. Crossbell stuff becomes more critical in ToCS2 though you never really need to know it. You'll get spoilers for the ending and one of the segments of ToCS2 is clearly intended to have more punch for people who played the Crossbell arc but to my understanding the same is true in reverse, parts of ToCS are spoiled in the Crossbell games, just with less context since Crossbell came first.

Wicked. The idea of writing a game series or just any fiction at all viewed from different perspectives (could really be called different worlds looking at manga of Crossbell arcs) is inspiring.

Trails is an incredibly ambitious game franchise for what it is. It doesn't always hit but it at least attempts things that are not really something you ever see in a JRPG franchise. Even just the idea of ToCS is interesting in that your entire cast are from an expansionist empire who are actively involved in dirty dealings with their neighbors without your protagonist's first response being "Hmm, that's kind of lovely, let's rebel!"

I love the politics of this series. Nearly every faction in every nation has its terrible people. I just wish then that the Vita (or for that matter the 3DS) had video out like the PSP did. Yeah it was niche and probably not worth the manufacturing cost, but it would sure be nice for my poor squinty eyes.

I wish the PSP video out was full-screen without homebrew (which didn't work on later firmwares or some games) and in the case of the Go, didn't also take up the charging port.
