I feel the same way. There's something about this show that's really compelling to me. I'd probably follow these characters for another 15 seasons.

Arguably one of Showtime's most consistent, really. Almost all of their shows nosedive after season 2 or 3, and Shameless has arguably done some of its best work after that cutoff.

I just like watching shows of people living their lives, kids growing up, learning new things. People change, tremendously throughout their lives, and sometimes you don't like those changes (Debbie), sometimes you do (Carl). A show like Dexter deals with non mundane things so when you have to up the ante every season it gets ridicolous, a show like Shameless while still being obviously unrealistic can bring out plotlines from just human interaction, etc. I just don't get sick of family shows in the same way as I do with others.

And also, everyone here who likes this show should watch Malcolm in the Middle if they have not. Imagine a proto-Shameless, only with actually responsible parents with the greatest relationship in TV history.

And all of their kids are Carl.

To me it is the most excellent kids show ever made, and only because it was an adult show masquerading as one...but my mom never found it out.

Hal and Lois were like loving bunnies, every other episode had a hidden reference about how ridiculously lot they had sex until they just stopped trying to even hide it

None of their kids held a candle to carl. And you should all checkout the British comedy outnumbered. It's amazing, more so when you realise that they decided not to write lines for the kids - they just told them what needed to happen in the scene and made them ad-lib everything.

Malcolm in the Middle wasn't a kids show, or at least it wasn't packaged as such. It aired on Fox's Sunday lineup, often coming before or after The Simpson's.

You don't remember the show very well. They were all pretty goddamn vicious thugs, the only thing that kept them from getting into some of the more serious stuff Carl did (sex, guns, drugs) was the rating/era of the show, and fact that their parents were really good and that few of them were actual geniuses. Just look at the poo poo Francis got up to before the show even started and look what Reese got into after.

EDIT: Like off the top of my head there is a flashback where they trap and beat up Hal when he is dressed up as Santa and steal his presents and none of them were older then six

EDIT 2: I remember in one episode they never actually tell what the hell it is Reese did, just the absolutely horrified reactions of everyone. I believe one of the questions was "WHAT WERE THE CATS FOR?!". From a child psychologist

That was all very meh, but at least it had Deb finally getting the much-deserved CPS visit, even if I question the speed (the Gallaghers have been doing poo poo that would have meant Fiona losing her guardianship for the last few years with total impunity, but Deb has a fight recorded and CPS arrives in 24 hours).

Derek?

Tanya didn't make the recording, though, so how did the officer have it? Tanya told him some stranger taped it and he found it on YouTube?

Yes, I am aware that my desire for reason and consistency on a show where Ian is seventeen during three seasons but Svetlana gets pregnant and gives birth twice in that same time frame is futile.

Tanya saw it happen and also saw that there were like 5 people filming it. Probably found it online soon after.

There's something really sexy about Scrooge McDuck. I love Uncle Scrooge.
The writers are getting dumb. Lip isn't skirting a gray area like his bosses, he committed felonies that many people are serving time for and he could easily get a six figure job as a code monkey without college or an internship. And that real estate developer too "do you own a city block? because that is who I negotiate with" so I guess you don't negotiate wages with your employees unlike every other business owner?

He TA'd an advanced physics class. If you can do advanced math you can do computer programming. People get good jobs in real life on the strength of their coding portfolio all the time.

I was souring on the show but this season has been good. Most of the characters have a compelling storyline. Not a big fan of Lip and Ian's story but they at least are involved in the others.

I do hate the Debbie character. Her story is interesting but tough to find any sympathy for her. She was a smug rear end in a top hat all last season about the baby and how she didn't need Fiona's help. Now she shockingly can't handle supporting herself and her kid. The show seems to be trying to make Fiona out to be a heartless bitch but I'm kind of in her corner on some of the stuff.
