I was huge into the cartoon as a kid, so the movies were the best we could get for the time, but they were about as accurate as the Mortal Kombat movies were to the game. It was really hard to watch the original muppet TMNT the last time that I tried. Like, the Super Mario Movie might be more fun because it's just so objectively a horrible trainwreck, while TMNT just makes you feel sort of embarrassed and sad that it isn't good at all.

Tbh though guys if you want your nostalgia hit go play video games. The last three transformers games, the 2010 ghostbusters one and that new tmnt game are leagues better than all those lovely films. God Joe biden has terrific presence. I wisjlh I could speak with half that warmth.

Although those saying the new movies are more faithful to the source material are forgetting that it was a comic book, and the first movie, weirdly, is more faithful to that than the cartoon. I think we should probably be done with the entire concept of Teenage Mutant Turtle Ninjas now, but maybe we should take an accelerationist perspective and say they should just keep making them and making the worse until people realize that they are bad and we get a new system for fiction in place.

There was a study years back (discussed here) with low numeracy people and high numeracy people with different political views. They were presented with a non-intuitive (ratios) maths problem firstly in a neutral political context (a skin-rash) and then the same problem but in a controversial political context (gun-control). What they found was that the results were surprisingly bad for the high numeracy people in an adverse political context, because they would skew their answers to a politically acceptable result.
