Theo has literally cemented his position as the greatest GM in the history of the sport, it doesn't matter what he does from now on. I'd imagine he keeps cashing those chicago checks for a bunch of years and then fucks off to make the Rockies or the Padres relevant or something.

A city that was to live by night after the wilderness had passed. A city that was to forge out of steel and blood-red neon its own peculiar wilderness.
P sure Theo will be able to stay here as long as he wants. Ricketts is likely not going to turn into a crazy control freak. And will p much let Theo do whatever he wants.

Also this seems like a good time to remind everyone that, at one point, Theo Epstein fled Fenway Park in a Gorilla suit to avoid any media confrontation.

I could see him reaching the point where he wants to do the John Hart thing and work less but continue to have an impact with a team. In that case, it'd make sense to leave but that's a long way off. Plus, so long as a smart owner owns the Cubs, I think they'll give him whatever he wants.

Once his tenure in Chicago is over, Theo leaves to tackle the next greatest baseball drought: the Cleveland Indians.

Theo at this point could walk into Cooperstown and demand they build him his plaque and place it in the newly created Epstein wing while he sits on a lawn chair, downs tall boys and wings the empties at anyone nearby, he'll have a job as long as he wants one and even if he doesn't any desperate team would pay him handsomely to just be on the payroll as if his presence alone will influence World Series trophies to be attracted to their team

I've only been to one Yankees parade (and it wasn't 2009) but it was amazing and I am super happy I was at it.

Also I have become a big Carl Edwards Jr fan, way out of proportion to how much he's played/I know about him.

I went to 4 out of the 5 (no longer living back home in 09) but nothing beats '96 for me. There was just a togetherness the crowd had with the team, and everyone was just happy. Definitely don't regret going.

Enjoy guys!

At the parade by Addison and Broadway, the second loudest cheer came after the player buses had passed. I was walking with a crowd down an alley when we heard the cheer start. We turned to see what we had missed, and past the narrowing lines of buildings we saw: a truck carrying a portapotty.

Also Chapman apparently woke up late because he was in a black sports car with a police escort going west on Addison. Had a huge grin on his face.

Does anyone know if the hats with the "Postseason" or "World Series" patches on them historically are restocked after the fact? Or is it done after they sell out? Specifically I want this one but it's not in stock in my size. I want the hat like they wear on the field.

edit: I don't even know if those are out of stock or they just don't make them in those sizes. :(

I assume they'll be making them until the end of next season, it seems like that's what they've done since I imagine a lot of gear only gets sold at physical locations/in the stadium.

Also yeah, you have to go with the on-field caps, all of the special stuff is always awful (except for the gold logo stuff, sometimes that looks pretty decent.)

beejay
Apr 7, 2002

I agree although I have a number of hats with older style logos on them that I like.

I keep having people telling me to get the one that says "World Series Champions" on the side patch but I don't want that one, I want the "World Series" patch because that's what they wore on the field and I was in disbelief every time I saw a player with that patch on their hat.
