If that was the case than retards like Kasich would have been way stronger because his message was near entirely economic. Trump's support was from white nationalists, that's who elected him, and just because between bouts of shouting at black people to go back to Africa and demanding every Hispanic they see be deported they sometimes say 'aw gee and the mine's all dried up' doesn't make them soft targets for economic progressives.

Rich white dudes have spent millions and millions of dollars for generations to set poor white people against poor everybody else people to distract them enough so that nobody comes to burn their mansions. The Kochs are just picking up the Scaifes' torch. Probably a lot of people would still be racist without the active and constant cheerleading for racism, of course, because people are among the very worst primates.
