This is what happens when you alienate a base that was promised hope and change, but got more of the same, then were offered actual hope and change, but had that yanked away for more of the same again. This is what happens when you ignore the power of the media and the internet. This is what happens when you rely on decades-old methods of determining how people feel about issues instead of paying attention to the hundreds of opinions that people volunteer freely online. This is what happens when you assume you will win elected office because you "deserve to win". This was preventable. This was avoidable. This is bullshit.

I'm from the south, so I'm used to this. The idea is you're supposed to take care of yourself. Helping others, or receiving help yourself, is seen as a generally lovely thing to do. I know folks that are cancer survivors that hate the idea of a health system helping them out.

I honestly feel sick. I used to defend the United States to all my European friends who hate it. I used to look at the strides you achieved in so many things, in so many ways and see something, if flawed, more good then bad. Now I just don't know what to think. Like U.S: is at influential in my life as my own country. Well, you make good entertainment. Good music, good TV, okay movies. This is what I have to settle with, I suppose.
