FrensaGeran posted:I dont think she was gunning for war with Russia, she's just more inclined to acknowledge the war-posturing Russia and Putin are actively doing, and her experience with foreign policy at least means she would've come to the presidency preloaded with a plan to deal with them. I think Trump is gonna give Putin whatever he wants so he doesn't have to deal with an actual world altering confrontation. ...Hillary was absolutely advocating for war with Russia, and her stance on the issue is well known. The keystone of her policy on syria was enforcing a no fly zone, this 100% would have meant war with Russia, it isn't a matter of speculation.

The other half of the problem is nominating someone who bought into identity politics and "going low when they go high." Just because Obama said that poo poo doesn't mean he actually believed it. You have to at least MENTION class and the fact that the economy has left a lot of people behind. Politico has a story this morning about Clinton and her aides had a discussion in the primaries that "Well Bernie is the change candidate but I've been in positions of power, I'll run as the technocrat who's on the right side of history." Jesus loving Christ. She could still have been on the right side of history if she equated social justice with class and changed messaging to be against big banks. It's basically been 10 straight years of small but steady victories in a variety of areas and you've got a whole generation of college-aged people who have never had to conceive of things getting worse socially. It will be quite the awakening. A lot of them felt safe for a lot of reasons. Not the least of which being the belief that "time going forward means more liberal." As gay marriage, gays in the military, abortion, etc. are being debated again by congress and eventually revoked and the potential for subtle jim crow laws to be reintroduced, they will once again not learn their lesson and realize that civil liberties are not guarantees.

I think I might have the most depressing post election story if anyone wants to feel worse. This morning my grandmother passed away after having a stroke a week ago. We had plenty of time to say goodbye thankfully and I spent a lot of time with her over the years so I don't have any regrets about that. I've got plenty of family members around and I'm not going to start drinking so I'll be fine. I just thought that of all the days, it almost feels like loosing two grandmas.

They will get right on their hashtag movements and tumblr pushes to make socialism exist in the US. They'll just give up, say its all pointless, and watch as the non-whites, non-het, non-cis slowly lose all their rights and go "welp, guess it doesn't effect me."
