I still feel the sexist argument is apt but it's possible populism joined with accomplishments not meaning anything this time around is key too. I feel this was also what helped Obama out in 2008. He was fresh faced, not an established character, etc. Part of me wishes it was Hillary in 08, then Obama in 2016. We still do need to pick up the pieces. I know everyone has a hot take on why we lost, but let's stop sniping at each other, please, take a deep breath, and start rebuilding for 2018. Also, thank gods no one ran against Ron Kind in WI-3, he would have lost.

Lots of left people spent months having hillbots poo poo all over them only to in the end be justified in saying that hillary was a loving poor choice to run against Trump. I hope this can be the end of cry baby non-violence preaching, incrementalism aplogist, lovely loving liberals being the voice of the left. As climate change wreaks havoc on the world while a climate change denier is the president, as all the incremental gains for womens rights, gay rights, minority rights are strangled in their cribs maybe its time to try something a bit more radical, a bit more extreme.

Look, I don't think that anybody is saying sexism didn't play a factor. It clearly did. So did racism on the right. It's a banner loving year to be a dues paying klansman. But the bigger part is that the Democrats ran a pretty ho-hum business-as-usual candidate against a populist tidal wave in a year where people are mad at banks and wall street and washington.

I'm kind of coming off the high of watching the world burn. Now, that's it's sizziling before the flames start in January, I just feel a little empty. Our entire country failed a bunch of people. Then, they failed the country. Now, both will fail, no one will be happy, and this will be remembered a dark time in our history. In 100 years, people will look back on this as the time America committed suicide. Kind of sucks, really. We were a world superpower. Soon, we'll be an even bigger joke than before and start to sink into irrelevance, outside Trump's outlandish actions. The people who wanted this the most will get nothing and never realize it and make the same mistake again. The people who allowed this will learned nothing and make the same mistake again. This is just kind of a long, drawn out bad joke without a punchline.
