Audrey probably could've screamed, "SHE'S THE MURDERER, SHE DID ALL THIS" at the cops when she saw Lee and probably not have gotten gunned down, but then we probably wouldn't get Lana Winters next episode so

Come to me .... and live forever.
Well, Audrey DID produce a gun and point it at them. It's not like she ran out of the cellar toward them screaming for help and got riddled.

That whole ending was a little too convenient for my taste. Turning Lee into a Butcher is something I definitely didn't see coming and kudos on them for that. But then leaving her to snap out of it and be the sole survivor was kinda goofy. Like many things in AHS, should have just done the thing and ran with it.

Speaking of, the fatal flaw of AHS rears its ugly head again: unlikable characters. Two of which are coming face to face, so that'll be somewhat interesting I guess. But it also strikes me how they just sort of ignore the world they've built. If this all happens in the same universe, which it either does or has a slightly different RIck & Morty ideal behind it, then witches are real, ghosts are real, the whole country should be seeing all that with this footage (considering MRN was supposed to be more popular than football,) and we're about to get a big time interview that's got to reference all that.

Also, they were pretty blatantly referencing the Blair Witch, especially if you've seen this year's film. Somehow I think AHS did the running through the woods camera work better though.

I was hoping Ryan Murphy would have been insane enough to let Audrey live and have Paulson interview herself in the finale. That would have been the right amount of batshit to tip this season over the edge. Oh well.

Based on the preview I'm a little let down about where the finale is heading. I wanted the finale to be a big reunion special with the cast and crew that revealed season 2 was a giant hoax on the public/everyone was alive.

i probably need a reminder of the cops in other seasons because i can only remember two, but Hotel's kindergarten SWAT team is definitely worse than Roanoke's Allow People To Die cops, since the former didn't do anything of any consequence whatsoever

E: I also mistook Lana Winters to be the psychic from Murder House and Hotel, that would have been a treat to see a psychic interviewing The Butcher II

Wait so are we being asked to accept that LW and Fake Shelby are two different people played by the same actor? Also wouldn't LW have to be like 80? Didn't look like she was made up to be anywhere near that age.

She looks 60 at best. The makeup is not very good.

I did groan when I saw Sarah Paulson was back. It was satisfying to see her and her terrible accent finally get killed.

So my fiancee just pointed out something.

Scáthach is supposedly the original Supreme of the coven from the third season. But that show established that Supremes need to die to let the new Supreme take power.

I'm doubting that Lee is actually snapped out of it. She's just pretending for the cops. She intentionally showed her face to make Audrey suicide by cop, and as soon as she gets a chance she's just going to slip away. She is the sole survivor, and will probably end up on the loose butchering away.

It looks like she made the same deal the Butcher did though, what with eating a heart in the woods. Flora would have to be part of that, wouldn't she? All Lee cares about is her daughter. So she'd have to stay lucid long enough to to be reunited with her daughter.

Oh. Oh. Did we ever see the Butcher die before her son roasted her? The rest of the colony died at the poisoned feast, but she didn't die then. What if she didn't die at all? She wasn't a ghost. She was a 300+ year old living woman. Then her son's ghost broke free long enough to kill her, finally turning her into a ghost. But a ghost can't perform the ritual for the land, so the witch had to find a new living person to take on that role.

Lee accepts the bargain. She becomes the new queen bee of the Roanoke ghosts. She gets her brother back, sort of. And her husband. All she needs is Flora and her family will be complete again.

The Butcher was actually killed by Scathach after the poison feast. She killed everyone, then knelt & had her throat slashed. I think that Lee made some kind of bargain, but not necessarily to be the new butcher. I would guess that Lee agreed to lure more sacrifices to the colonists & witch, starting with Mason, to get Flora back.

I would think that, but she didn't make the deal with Scáthach until after she had to flee the Polks and the colonists during the second season.

I do think there's something more to Mason's death, though. Lee was right: there's no way she could have hoisted his body onto that fairly elaborate construction all by herself (let alone have it made so quickly). And the method in which he was killed matches the colonists a hell of a lot more than it does a single angry Lee.

I doubt that she would have eaten a heart twice. She probably just killed Mason and framed it like a Polk murder. I bet it did impress Scathach though.

Lee didn't have to hoist the body up, all she had to do was kill Mason and let the colonists put him up to burn his body. They're happy for the spilled blood, Lee's happy because her crime is covered up.

I don't think they'd find corpse desecration as appealing as going through their whole ritual on a living trespasser. Although I agree it was the ghosts that were responsible for the condition he was found in, maybe Lee had a hand in making that happen.

I really can't see the colonists stumbling across a random body, shrugging, and stringing it up and burning it anyway. They engage in ritual murder, not ritual corpse desecration. I wouldn't be surprised if Lee still had a hand in it, but the method of murder doesn't match up with her individually doing everything.

Rewatching the impaling and burning of the teens/GoPro filmographers made me physically ill. That was brutal.

The ghosts shoved a ~12ft stake up through their buttholes and up and out through their chest cavity, then lit them on fire while they were still alive. The disembowelings looked like a relief in comparison.

I think that is worse than the Drilldo, which while extremely gross and violent, just looked silly.

I'll admit to finding some parts of this season a little uncomfortable and too close to torture porn. I wouldn't go so far as "physically ill", but this and Lee's torture by the Polks just felt kinda wrong to be watching.

For me, when the POV cams showed them screaming and gurgling on the stakes and then twitching when they were lit, I started to get nauseous and squirming.

I agree that it was/is getting uncomfortably close to torture porn, so I guess it's a good thing that the finale(?) is next week.
