Trump's just going to come down from New York twice a week and yell at all the people he has doing his job for him before going back home to eat some Trump Steaks or some bullshit. It's probably his cabinet more than him that we have to worry about.

Syria is a clustefuck (and soon to be kurdish mass grave), with no right answers. Attempting to attack ISIS in Iraq while not dealing with their infrastructure in Syria is like trying to deal with a leaky oil pipeline without shutting off the flow. You can't just say "nope, not going in there" while attempting to help Iraq deal with the situation--and that's setting aside the massive amounts of tragedy and war crimes that occur daily there.

But don't worry, Putin will make all the hard decisions go away.

Seriously, why even bother talking about the situation here--democrats won't be in a position to order a storming of a starbucks until maybe--maybe--next decade. Focus on the rebuild. FP will sort itself out.

It was one of the cleaner interventions in contemporary US history. That it went to poo poo afterwards is another issue.

But you're right; when we see dictators wiping out villages we should send a harshly worded letter and go "sucks to be them, but at least we avoided the issue of what-if after the fact. Law and Order is protected."

Iraq we knocked over deliberately and Dubya didn't even bother to have a Day 1 plan in place aside from "greet us as liberators, yay democracy." That was 150% us and we should have had a plan.

Libya was our supporting a native force to prevent a civilian slaughter. We should have done more to offer logistical support and rebuilding aid, I agree. But the motivation was completely different.

By your logic, Assad did nothing wrong.

Yes, because the structural failure of the democratic state parties, House and Senate delegations, and the disaffected low income and minority voters was because they felt Clinton was too interventionalist.

Its a credible reason to toss on the pile and was a motivator for some I'm sure. but I imagine it was far lower on the priority list than domestic issues for most.

Hmm, let me just say, I think if you read more about Libya, you'll change your mind. For example, we didn't just "support a native force to prevent a civilian slaughter." If that was the case, we could have ended the intervention within 48 hours, because that's how quickly we turned government troops back from Benghazi. Instead, the intervention continued for 90 more days or so, as it pivoted from "protecting civilians" to working for regime change outright without question. Moreover, Gaddafi was not slaughtering civilians. Don't take my word for it, check any report of the facts, such as the one done by the UK's own parliament which came to the same conclusion.
