Half of the new JETs in my town are Asian American and they keep getting told "Oh you don't look American"  I think city hall specifically asked for Californians and Asians because a few years ago one JET was very kind and good and helpful and everyone with a similar background will be similar right?

My old lab partner from college added me on Facebook recently. She was like "OMG, tell me about China!? So cool you ended up there. Blah blah." and I wrote this huge GBS post about how it's not what she thinks and then I stopped and read it again and felt I looked ridiculous even if everything is totally true, so I deleted it and said China has 5000 years of culture and be careful of some of the food because you get the squirts. I recommended she take a trip here some time for vacation, because I am totally sure she'd love it and how culturally rich it is.

talking about connecting with people from a long time ago, i interned in congress the summer before my senior year, not as a gopher but as an actual intern, and i saw how bad washington was, and i made friends with a guy that's still in washington, he's like still constantly posting stuff about the political system and he works in DC and he's kind of like a politician maybe? i don't know, i hope he isn't. anyway, he posted something on facebook a few months ago that was like "tell me something you know is true that no one believes" and i wrote "China will NOT be the next world super power, lol" and it got a ton of likes. lol.

Today there was a horrible taxi accident in Hong Kong. Some guy just ran into a group of pedestrians and instead of checking on the victims. He was inspecting his car. Yeah some bystanders got really pissed at him. I tried to find the video on youtube but it's only on facebook groups. it was a two part street fight. one was these two women, i'd guess late 20s or early 30s, going absolutely batshit insane on a guy who worked at the parking place. they kept shouting at him and calling him a MFer and saying he didnt' have any face and he just kept talking about their mother's vaginas. then there were two older ladies with fingers in each other's faces screaming at each other too. finally it kind of died down and i saw an old man in a wheelchair, and one of the younger girls pushed him out and they started walking down the street. then the employee came back and started screaming so they all came running back and left the old man in the wheelchair in the middle of the road so this started to slow down traffic. then one of the older ladies collapsed, it looked like she was having a heart attack. i actually thought she was going to die from arguing. poo poo was insane. in one of the pictures you can see the old man in the wheelchair in the road, lol. what in the world is going on? i just want to get off work in one piece and go watch stranger things at home.
