Wisconsin has been using the same design for a while now. First they did AAA-123 with blue, then red lettering, now it's 123-AAA with black lettering. Been that way for probably 30+ years now.

FL has a shitload of specialty plates too, but most of them shockingly seem to have been made by mildly competent designers. This was the only really comical one I saw (which I've never seen in the wild):

Enourmo posted:FL has a shitload of specialty plates too, but most of them shockingly seem to have been made by mildly competent designers. This was the only really comical one I saw (which I've never seen in the wild): Not sure how they decided who to make 'em for, surely there's more teams than that based in NC. I wonder how many of those people (and/or their crews) have "their" custom plate on their personal cars. It's actually really weird to me thinking of NASCAR drivers having personal cars (sort of in the same vein as Let's Play-ers playing games for fun, y'dig?) -- I'd assume they're contractually obligated or at least heavily encouraged to only own the same brand as their race car, right? If so, does that mean everybody at Stewart-Haas has to go out and buy a new personal car during the off-season? Edit: also, more on-topic, at least a couple of those are based on out-of-date liveries. E.g. the 10 is mainly white with a blue outline now, sometimes grey and red, and it's been quite a while since the 14 was orange. Edit again: also, most of them have the driver's initials as a suffix, but some don't and that's weird. Like the #10 plate is XXXX-DP, #88 is XXXX-JR (which makes sense), the elder Busch is XXXX-KB, but lil' bro Busch is XXXX-BH (what?), and #20 (Matt Kenseth) is XXXX-NK (Why?). Also the brothers Busch have the same initials, which is weird on the TV leaderboard ticker too, since it's mostly first initial lastname, they're Ku and Ky Busch, which is an inelegant solution, but I guess it's all they can do to differentiate them. Also they still insist on using the Jr. suffix for young Dale, which is not properly correct per most style manuals (while the elder is alive, he has no suffix and son with the same name is Jr., when Dad dies he's Sr. and the son is just [name]. He's the only Dale now! The "Jr." is superfluous!). Chillbro Baggins fucked around with this message at 23:09 on Nov 13, 2016 |

PA's plates are generally pretty boring, mostly just "organization logo on standard plate" outside of stuff like the conservation plates. http://www.dmv.pa.gov/VEHICLE-SERVICES/Registration%20Plates/Pages/Approved-Organizations.aspx I kind of want to get a Planned Parenthood plate to go with my NRA sticker in my window and the Trump stuff, etc.

That sucks, the simple layout with the solid red background looks really good. Shame the new one looks like the LEGALLY DISTINCTTM version of our "prevent violence" plates The only good ones we have left that aren't antique vehicle plates are the sportsman series and the State Police Memorial Park plates The CPD memorial plates are pretty good too, they're the closest to the old plates that I can find All modern license plates are so cluttered and have too many colors. Isn't the whole purpose of a license plate to convey all of the identifying information of the car at a glance? E: Is that a vulture on the State Police Memorial plate? The new California throwback plates you can get for an extra $40 look really good and are totally worth it. I have one on each of my motorcycles. No crap, just CALIFORNIA and the numbers. (The motorcycle ones just say CAL). They're genuinely embossed and painted, too, not a flat printout.
