Hey, I would kind of like to have an intellectually honest and mutually respectful conversation about "throwing your vote away" or the ethics of voting third party in a hotly contested election like this one. It doesn't seem like this is the right forum for it, D&D is a cesspool filthier than any Trump rally, and obviously GBS wouldn't get me the results I'm looking for. I don't know, I just want to talk about this with someone, what forum do youse think "I am a white guy who voted for Dwayne Hector Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho AMA" would work the best?

While huge D&D seriousposts aren't our style here, it'd still be nice if you could put a bit of effort into any OP you make on the subject. I totally get it and would probably feel the same way about starting a thread about a controversial topic too, but it occurs that an inability to even consider the possibility of idle conversation with people we consider 'loathsome' is a huge part of the problem with pretty much every political faction there is right now.

There's a difference between putting some effort into an OP and just writing a big ol' wall of text. The former can lead to good threads, while latter tends to get dunked on as it (usually) indicates the thread's creator hasn't really thought their idea through or is up their own rear end about the importance of whatever it is they're talking about. So just give it some thought and try to be clear about what you want to talk about and why, is all I'm saying.
