I just figured that since there's conscription in Egypt, those who have the most pull (well not enough to where they can get out of conscription completely, but still some pull) try to get an easier job like the military band. So you get a bunch of people with political connections in the band and not so much people who have actual musical ability.

It's a Lycoming T55 turboprop, not a liquid-cooled piston engine.

You can see in that image that the huge radiator scoop underneath is completely gone. Obviously a different cooling setup (because different engine).
