Yeah, the first few days after the election are an okay sign that the Dems have at least noticed that totally zoning out SocDem/Bernie opposition is suicide for them, but there's still the threat that once the post-election feelings die down they'll revert and go "wait no actually the problem was Hillary just had some bad press, we just need a Hillary that has less history with the GOP".

The fact that we only had 5 candidates (2 of whom dropped out before Iowa) should have been an early warning sign as to what was to become of the Democrats this year. The democrats had 2 candidates to choose from. O'Malley was running for vp/cabinet, and I don't know what Chaffee and Webb expected but it wasn't to be president. I can't blame dems for not wanting to take on Clinton, she's been running for president for 16 years, and after 08 there was no room left for superdelegates or big money donors. Now that the Clinton house of cards collapsed, the dems are scrambling to keep their party together, 2020 president is on the back of their radar and its going to be end up a shitshow like the 2016 gop primary.

FCKGW posted:remember when we all thought the donald would tear the gop apart? but it turns out he tore the dems apart? The real meltdown will be in 4 years when Donald has transformed the GOP into the European-American Nationalist-Socialist Workers Party, while Sanders has transformed the Dems into the All-Union Socialist party. The media kept pushing the narrative of America being divided and polarized, wait until every election is literally a Nazi vs literally a Bolshevik. burnishedfume has issued a correction as of 05:07 on Nov 19, 2016 |

The Nastier Nate posted:I can't blame dems for not wanting to take on Clinton, she's been running for president for 16 years, and after 08 there was no room left for superdelegates or big money donors. It's odd, though. Clinton was arguably a weaker candidate this time around than she was in 2008, when a young, up-start senator out of Illinois decided to take her on. She's older than she was back then, and her 4 year stint as secretary of state did nothing but hang more scandals around her neck. Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Sherrod Brown, Deval Patrick, and Kirsten Gillibrand all could have presented credible challenges to her this year, but opted not to for various reasons. The Nastier Nate posted:Now that the Clinton house of cards collapsed, the dems are scrambling to keep their party together, 2020 president is on the back of their radar and its going to be end up a shitshow like the 2016 gop primary. Well, I hope so, as that seemingly worked out pretty well for the GOP.
