It's not arcade quality but it's a functional and trouble free stick. edit2: there are also cheap PS/PS2 to neogeo adapters so you can use your Hori RAPs or whatever d0s fucked around with this message at 04:04 on Nov 18, 2016 |

Is there any way to buy a model 2 VA4 Genesis? I've been scouring eBay and looking at / requesting pictures but I haven't had any luck yet. Local shops all seem to have VA1 or VA3.

Otherwise, you'll either have to pester the hell out of sellers and hope they're willing to respond and go to the trouble, or roll the dice on various purchases. I think the VA4 version of the Model 2 had a short motherboard that didn't expand out under the ventilation slots, if that helps? I could be wrong, and not really care if I am, since I have no love for the Model 2 Genny anyway .

I hadn't seen this before: a former Tengen programmer uploaded video of the prototypes of Peter Pack-Rat and Marble Madness for the PC-Engine, and I'm dying. That hardware and the Atari System 1 look like they'd have been a match made in heaven.

I'm done buying physical console games. I own all the ones that mean something to me and for everything else emulation or flashcarts work just fine. If I buy something in the future then it's absolutely esoteric or rare. A game I want to take a deep dive with instead of a "I'm bored, what can kill 10 minutes?" Arcade games represent a field I'm generally unfamiliar with and owning a few boards or carts will satiate my hunger to have something I can endlessly tinker with.

yeah there is tons of arcade stuff that is still totally affordable, even a bunch of good shooters. I have 17 boards not counting MVS carts and most of them were under $100. Most of the games I have never even made it to consoles or did so in extremely gimped fashion. I agree with al-azad that buying expensive console games now is kind of pointless unless you just enjoy collecting for the sake of it as there are flash carts and CD burning solutions that give you a 100% authentic experience on real hardware, for the vast majority of arcade games that's impossible (though there are great MVS multicarts and some solutions for other systems like taito g-net). al-azad, get an account on klov forums and browse their selling forum and make want ads, that's where the deals are if you're in the US. shmups forum (even if you're not looking for shmups) and neo-geo forum (even if you're not looking for neo-geo) also have pretty good markets for general arcade stuff. edit: can I just mention that I hate that snobbery of "worthwhile shooters" being the same 10 cave/raizing games that cost ridiculous money? there is so much more to that world than those games. d0s fucked around with this message at 02:21 on Nov 19, 2016 |

Same. They're no longer jerking it over ProGear so the rest are all forgotten, dicks out for anything Cave or Raizing, not a poo poo given for the underappreciated fun Hacha Mecha Fighter. Even the Konami boards that used to go for a lot, not a poo poo given. What's that, a mint Xexex for $60? Keep it. Cheaper Seibu Kaihatsu games for the rest of us with decent taste. If I get a cab or supergun I need Raiden DX back.

All NTSC Wii's only ouput composite or component. You can get a converter for Component to SCART though that should work on your monitor if yours doesn't have any component ports but does support the standard.

Hi retro thread, long time no see. With the recent sale, I bought a bunch of PS1 games on PS3's PSN. I've only played the PS1 RPGs on that so far but I bought some action games too like Mega Man X4. However I noticed while playing that there's a solid third of a second of input lag. I've spent about two hours trying different options on my console and TV (which has no "game mode" or anything like it) and different cable hookups and nothing seemed to make a difference. It's not a huge deal for RPGs but I did always feel like they were ever so slightly sluggish. MMX4 honestly feels unplayable to me, I can barely dash jump with any precision. I went back and tried some RPGs again and, sure enough, it's there too if I'm looking for it. With all the research I'm doing I can't real find any consistent info other than "yes, PS1 classics on PS3 have input lag". SHMUP and fighting game people just can't seem to agree if it's just the TVs, the console itself, if it's fixable or not, etc. Anyone here happen to know anything about it? I don't have a working PS1 or PS2 right now and gently caress if I want to get into PS1 collecting after having bought about 30 games for $40. It's pretty disheartening that they feel this bad when it's a game that requires any real response time.
