Which episode?

he, like a few other very powerful alpha males, responds to any confrontation by whipping his phone out and acting like he's about to be brutally beaten so he can try to gain sympathy.

I think he's from Manitowoc which is where Making A Murder took place if anyone needs context. Its rural as gently caress.

Amanda Marcotte's an idiot, she claimed that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz stepping down as head of the DNC was a necessary sacrifice the Democrats needed to make, because the Bernie Bros needed to hurt a woman.

I would really like the hosts to address these points, and I could see them doing so in a sincere manner.

It sounds stupid, but Chapo really has helped a lot of people, myself included, awaken politically, and finally articulate half-formed annoyances with the absurdity and horror of politics and media. They really have an opportunity with the rise of fascism and fall of centrism, to spread a very positive and useful message that can actually motivate people to effect change. Expanding their audience with honest self reflection can only be a good thing.

It's corny as gently caress, but their post election episodes have really shown the value of the show.

those are pretty good questions. not sure how much addressing their financial situation really helps anything. obviously if two of them can afford to live in nyc pretty much off their patreon income it's doing pretty well

kind of a tangent, but something i've seen here (meaning in the dadchat thread mainly) and elsewhere is this notion reinforced by people only reading the profile pieces and not bothering to actually listen is that they're just doing scatalogical humor buried in layers of irony

which is dumb as hell because they've repeatedly stated their goals and how dead serious they are about them

i remember when the show first started making the rounds in uspol and being completely dumbfounded when several people complained that the hosts were too mean to their targets

First point is reeeeaal dumb, especially for a "leftist critique". If I had to come up with a two word summary of the entire point of socialism, "not working" would actually be pretty decent.

I wouldn't say that makes it a moot point. Automation can lead to widespread liberation or immiseration depending on how the benefits are distributed. I think that means having a left willing to fight for the right to live without working is crucial.

I think when they do dip in to earnestness it seems a lot more impactful because they drop the irony kayfabe, like Virgil at the end of the posts election episode or when Matt or one of the other guys comes to kind of a deeper understanding of things. I don't think it has to be like an episode of MASH with 80 percent irony and 20 percent earnest schmaltz but I guess I do enjoy hearing them talk when they're not just being funny too.

I think irony twitter does sometime dogpile on people who are completely irrelevant (like the Harry Potter fantasy revolution fantasy people and mentally unwell people) but I think people with position and influence in politics and media are absolutely fair game.

Actually one thing I'd like to hear more from them about is reminiscing about the 08 election. It was interesting to hear that they also remembered that horrible HillaryIs44 site.

nah i'm talking about the question from the medium article about whether the chapo guys' socialism involves making work better or just less work because the latter is definitely gonna happen in terms of fewer people working

MDE is discussed heavily in the Brandon Wardell episode, and mentioned in passing in at least one later ep. The Boys (or at least Will) conclude that the creator is a fascist

It's really really bad, but I remember there was also one with an otherwise smart and interesting lady guest who had literally the most obnoxious voice I've ever heard purposefully recorded. I can't remember who or which episode, I'm pretty sure I didn't even finish it.
