Subterranean Animism is kicking my rear end. I've done 1cc normal runs for 6-10 but I'm getting absolutely wrecked here, barely reaching the third level. All of the shot types feel really weak as well. The one exception is Patchouli - switching modes and firing sideways/backwards sounded lousy at first but it seems to have better focused damage and coverage than everything else. Is there something I am missing the makes the other five partners good? I do like that the best option happened to be the dork magician though.

Reimu A and arguably Marisa A (BOMBSSSS) are the only actually decent shots, everything else is gimmicky garbage. And yes, even the two good shots are still much weaker than what games prior would've given you. I feel like it was ZUN backing off from the absurdity of MoF. SA really ramps up the puzzle aspect of spellcards, so sheer DPS really isn't the answer as much as just knowing how to beat the cards is. EDIT: If you're curious, yes, technically Marisa B is the best shot in the game since it has overwhelming coverage and the highest DPS if you abuse the bugged damage on Wood level 3. But unless you are a robot or TASing, there is no way you are going to be able to be to swap on the fly to the appropriate element while dodging things so you're never going to use it to its full potential. Reimu C has similar issues. BlitzBlast fucked around with this message at 16:24 on Nov 8, 2016 |

I feel like Marisa C is okay if you're semi-reliable at deathbombing (which is a skill you should probably have from every other game), simply because it gives you more effective lives. The shot itself is meh, but extra lives are always good. Honestly, I find it better than Marisa A, because A's bombs are so small that you're pretty likely to still be in danger after bombing.

I feel like IN doesn't help you learn deathbombing at all, since it's such an outlier in how much easier it is to pull off.

Yeah, the conflict in the storylines overall are more forced than usual, and the translations being what they are have a tendency to add to the confusion at times.

After a disgustingly long delay on my part (I was playing Pokemon even when the raws were available and the script proofread), Wild and Horned Hermit 36. In which Reimu's crazy money making scheme is brought down by something other than her own hubris.

Some serious food porn there. It must have been an immensely strong spirit to be able to make Reimu succumb to hunger. You'd think she of all people would be used to it.

Dunno if this is the right thread to ask in, but I've been looking for a remix track I heard ages ago and haven't managed to place; it's an acoustic guitar take on The Gensokyo the Gods Loved, for two guitars. It's not anything on like, the first 10 pages or so of remixes for the song, even narrowed down. It sounded, if memory serves, quite a lot like Optical (one of the highest ranked hits for GtGL remixes in the acoustic category) but it had less strumming if that makes any sense? Cheers if anyone has any ideas.

El Burbo posted:When'd you listen to it, that could help narrow it down. I'm usually good at finding these things Uhhh maybe 3 or 4 years ago? poo poo, might have even been longer. I used to have it saved to my YT fav list but the account that uploaded it either got nuked or deleted it, it was one of those big channels similar to the one below that uploaded Optical. Golden Battler posted:Might be this? Nope, it had nothing save for the two acoustic guitars, no beat or drum-line or anything else. That's what I meant about Optical being very, very similar to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8dPOJRK2l4 But as previously mentioned, no strumming as far as I can remember when compared to Optical. The other distinguishing fact I can remember is that close to the end when the chorus kicks in both guitars go silent for a second and then only one very slowly and deliberately picks the notes to the chorus once before the second one joins back in for a second rendition of the chorus.
