No, we have weekly polls but the election results are never even close to the polls.

does anyone in europe know statistics and how to manage error in polling ? or is that more a thing that only baseball nerds know? 538 got alot of heat for being so uncertain about the result of the general election here while everyone else was like 99%++ crooked hillary wins

Baloogan posted:does anyone in europe know statistics and how to manage error in polling ? or is that more a thing that only baseball nerds know? The problem with polling for the Dutch elections is that these days, many people don't make up their minds until the last possible moment, people will vote strategically, there are many more parties to choose from, and some of them are quite close to each other (for instance , the Democratic coalition in the US would in the Netherlands be represented by at least 4 separate parties). Thus with our last parliamentary elections both the main rightwing party and the main center-left party did much better than expected, since the race ended in a competition about who would become the biggest party (as a rule the biggest party gets the first shot at trying to form a government). And of course that effect is driven by the polls themselves.

You're also not gonna know how the French elections are gonna go until new polls pitting fillon against le pen come out Fillon basically cribbed all of FN's positions minus all the really messed up stuff though, so he will have a better shot than juppe. Also gently caress you for hoping for the nazis lol

Plus aren't they super big on Russia and European disarmament and all that good old Warsaw pact poo poo? They're a bunch of old irrelevant soviet relics is my impression, and they will never get any kind of power.

They're a bunch of old irrelevant soviet relics is my impression, and they will never get any kind of power. There's a lot of Soviet leftover elements in a lot of left-wing parties, such as Russian apologism, yes. But that's nowhere near as big of a deal as the fundamentally different attitudes towards society compared to the centrist parties, and ultimately, that's probably preferable than Russia being the perpetual boogeyman (though thankfully that is nowhere near as big a phenomenon in Europe as it is in the US). It is also debateable how strongly those parties would put that Russian apologism into practice if they were in power. With the Russian establishment making the far right into its new BFFs I do not see real ties between them and the traditional left lasting for much longer.

Baloogan posted:can you translate your dumb languages into the standard language all of humanity uses? "If Roemer gets into the Little Tower(That's where the Prime Minister works), we're moving to Switzerland". This was made by a business magazine during the last elections, who were so against SP they were gonna run away if the SP won. To this day I have no idea what the chainsaw and blood symbolizes, but it reminds me of DOOM so I voted them that year. Apparently the SP liked the ad cause this year they made their own. "Put the saw to deductible". SP wants to get rid of deductible in health care and insurance companies, and set up a big ol' universal health care system. However due to the lack of extreme gore and a bitch-made chainsaw, they haven't won my vote yet.

i want to tell a story from my country this is a kinda famous bronze sculpture in the Amsterdam red light district: This wasn't commissioned by the city, it just appeared one morning in february 1993. We're Dutch and we plan every loving meter of this swamp country, so it would not stand, and the city send some people to remove it. They tried to pry it out, but they couldnt get it loose. It turned out it had a cubic meter of concrete under it. This is in a very heavy tourist district, and it was placed overnight. The city finally removed it, but for an unknown reason placed it back a month later a few feet from its original place. Noone knew who made it. In the years before the city had a contract with The Unknown Sculptor that in exchange for anonimity, they could place some sculptures throughout the city without payment, and it was quickly concluded that this was the same person. Other works of his/her: (the blue violinist/Man trying to catch tram 5) or (the treecutter) or (the violinist, in the lobby of the city hall) people have tried for years to find out who it is, but since the city never paid a cent for the sculptures and noone noticed (or tells) who installed them its hard to find leads and those who should know have never said a word in 30 years. So, apparently there's a sculptor in the netherlands who has enough money and connections to dig a hole for a 5000 pound slab of concrete in the city center in one night without informing the city and can just get away with it. There is however one famous person in the Netherlands known for her love of sculpting, violin, connections and tons of money Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands So if you ever visit Amsterdam and smack your toe against a titty on the oudekerksplein, I'd say it's about a 65% chance our last queen made that titty Sai has issued a correction as of 04:46 on Nov 28, 2016 |

The average Dutch person is pretty anti-Russia, as is the media and nearly every one in government. When Putin visited he was constantly surrounded by gay protesters doing stuff like this: Also everyone hates Russia because of the airplane crash Also a Dutch court just ruled against Putin in the treasure trial
