Blow holes in the planet to expose the bunkers, beam rapists into the brig

I'm going through TNG season 1 right now. Worf and Geordi are in red and it's weird. Yar is there and I don't know her character at all from cultural osmosis so it's weird. Riker No Beard. Weird. Wesley is there in his horrible costumes and it's weird.

They need warp travel and a unified planetary government before the federation will even talk to them. But they're all human and a failed colony so it makes no sense. Gene wanted a rape planet, he got one.

The High Ground is such a good episode. Thorny issues of terrorism and Picard decks a man and does a better job of security than Worf. There are some episodes of TNG that are even more relevant today than when they were made.

I started watching Voyager for the first time and I was hoping that it would be about the breakdown of a typical federation society where stuff starts to get run down without an extended stay in drydock and the animus between the different viewpoints of the crew but instead it just feels like the 1st season of TNG where instead of being in federation space they are just somewhere else. Also all the characters are super un-relatable.

This is the gist of Voyager. Could've been long term anarchy on a starship with every encounter being more alien than the last and every day getting a little more desperate. Ended up becoming Gilligan's Planet.
