To commemorate the Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu S2 that's coming out in a month or so, I've started watching Rozen Maiden 2013. Ep1 was all over the place, but Ep2 hit some strong emotional notes. And it totally looks like a Shinichi Omata/Deen show, the guy really has a distinct style in snappy cuts to close-ups, little naturalistic motions, and simplistic shading. Also, people should also watch Sankarea (don't read the manga).

It's gotten boring. its a bit ahrd to place like but part of what made helck so cool is the interesting world full of funny characters and new things and people to meet, sort of an open ended exploration of silliness, you didnt know what the next chapter would bring now the plot is set in stone but that plot isnt mega interesting the last 30 or so chapters have just been a mirthless march forward with like single panel piwi interludes, we all know where helck is heading and what he is going to do and we already know all the characters and locations he will see along the way because weve been there before

its a tonal shift like vinalnd saga had but vinlands tonal shift was more positive because it opened up a whole new world of philosophy and exploration both in the physical space and the character sense thats why i say this is the opposite, the tonal/genre shift of helck made the world smaller

helcks a pretty straightforward character even with the added knowledge of his history, hes got the same qualities as his namesake, the headstrong and straightforward nature, and not much has changed as we near 80 chappies hes the eponym but more the secondary protaganist because the story is really told from vamirios perspective, but she sublimated her will to his for the most part

ps hes herc hes hercules thats his namesake and also physically who he is except less angry hercules always was stepping over the line and causing violence and damage to the innocent and in his great shame he would quest to make things right over and over again, so hercules actually has a deeper character than helck
