The GOP was overwhelmingly rejected in places like the pacific coast, NY, the populated parts of New England, etc. More people live there and the dems wracked up huge margins pretty much across the board (30+ pt margins). That doesn't matter because of how the rules are set up, but it's pretty much the story of the 21st century (2004 and 2010 excepted) - republican friendly areas represent more land, so the GOP gets more power, even though they represent less people. They thus get to impose their agenda on areas of the country that are both more populous and overwhelmingly reject them, in spite of not winning the most votes, because of where they drew their votes from, how the rules are set up and how they've been able to put a thumb on that scale to consolidate that advantage. It's very, very hard to be ok with that.

Hell, Texas is the second-largest state in the country, you think Hillary wouldn't have held rallies in San Antonio or Trump in Dallas if the popular vote mattered?
