Refurbished cats may have scratches, dents or other forms of cosmetic damage which do not affect the performance of the unit.

Of all the things I expected to see in my figure skating animes tonight, a parody of the Canadian Tire logo was not one of them

I welcome Yurio back and I love how fans have embraced his cat mascot. Anyone know why all the ice skaters have plushies during the photo? I love plushies but I do wonder.

Does anyone know how likely we are to see better subs on the dvds? I've never watched a simulcast before.

I only know about the Finnish market, but over here DVD-subs are usually made by entirely different people than for theaters/TV/online releases, which makes it possible that subtitles for the same show end up seeming completely different from each other. I'd personally hope they'd at least check and finetune the most egriguous of errors and rush jobs with the YoI DVD-release, even if they use the stream subs as the base.

I thought this show couldn't get more gay than it did last week but HERE WE GO AGAIN!

So this show doesn't even need fanfics, those are writing themselves. Suddenly Yuri's very take-charge in their coach-skater-dynamic and how am I not being flooded with pictures and gifs of the necktie pulling and skate-kissing and Yurio with cat-ears and freaking King of Ham Mamoru Miyano's Circle-Jerk on Ice program?!

I thought lyrics in the music lead to deducted points, though? Anyway, I hate JJ with a passion. I'd like to believe it's intentional on the part of the writers.

Could've sworn they were setting up Yurio's grandpa dying or being hospitalized and that being the thing that ruins Yurio's performance, but I guess the most drama in the grandpa-dog-axis is coming next week.

On a more technical note: is it just standard figure skating stuff that Yuri keeps doing the exact same program over and over and over again? It's probably good for the animation budget but I'm getting a little tired of seeing him do Eros every single week. I don't think I've seen any of the other skaters in the show "stuck" with a one and only program they skate the entire season.

I think it's just the flowers and stuffed toys the audience throws at the skaters at the end of every performance. I've seen younger skaters "clean up" the fan gifts from the ice between each skater but the skaters themselves seem to pick up big and prominent stuff on their own.

It's a recent change, starting this season if I'm not wrong? Lyrics are a-ok now (as well as... more special sound effects).

A completely different program would imply different music and choreography which costs money and time to train. And (possibly more importantly) a program on the level shown in the anime has to be min-maxed for points depending on what the skater can do, how well they can do it and what the competition is like. Massively changing the layout in the middle of the GP is not a good idea because points-wise it's better to full rear end one program (i.e. get better at doing the same poo poo such as Yuuri not loving up the 4S that often recently) than half rear end two. I'm not spergy enough to confirm whether keeping the same program for multiple seasons is against the rules, but it'd probably get deducted points at the very least.

The other skaters probably do have the same program across competitions, just that they aren't shown.

This is correct. Additionally, dedicated fans throw poo poo that's related to the skater(s) they like such as Yuzuru Hanyu getting Pooh plushies because he likes Pooh :3:

The NHK is over and the GPF lineup is in. It's almost the same as last year: Fernandez, Chan, Hanyu, Uno, Chen, and Rippon.

I'll do a massive link dump when I get home and get a chance to search through everything.

Yesssss, please! I'm not super knowledgeable about figure skating, but I caught the free skates live and really enjoyed it.

Tanaka Keiji & Nathan Chen's FSs were also very, very good. I really recommend watching them! Deniss Vasiljevs too!

I was rooting for my boy Jason Brown because he's such a huge dork and a really lyrical skater, but unfortunately he didn't do so well. But even then, he was hugely gracious after his skate!

I always seem to miss when figure skating is on, and this anime has made me want to properly follow it. Would one of the fans mind mentioning when the next big event is and what times and channels it's on? All my online resources are giving me conflicting or incomplete information.

Thanks! Excited to get to learn more about this sport.
