What?

Wait what? Does anyone have a link to either of those?

I do remember something about him trying to pay a dude doing art assets for him in restaurant gift cards or something though. He also kept talking about how he was advertising on sites where people drew porn of his characters, tacitly endorsing it by not condemning it, which is a perfect plan with no downsides because there's no such thing as bad publicity guys. I think it was around then that the railroading complaints started too, but I'm sure that that had no connection to the sudden influx of users trying to get her into bed with anything that moved and getting annoyed when that didn't happen.

Oh god, I had completely forgotten about that. Or maybe it was from before I discovered prequel?

I found his explanation a page or two later:

Kazerad posted:

Creepiness was unintentional; sorry for any discomfort there!

I try to always take criticism into account, but it helps to weight the criticism based on its source. That is to say, when someone is really hating on your stuff it helps to identify whether they are a trained professional or, like, a twelve year old with incredibly important opinions. When I discovered you did a lot of great fanwork yourself and were raising money by drawing other people's characters, some of your earlier criticisms about me trying to capitalize off the work of others admittedly sounded a little jealous in retrospect. So I figured I'd offer you some of my dudes, just in case you needed them. Apologies for the detectiving, no malice was intended.

Hopefully that answers your question!

So yes, depending on his mood if you say anything negative about him or his comic he will start googling your poo poo to make sure you're worth his precious time to respond to.

It's Kaz.txt. He takes a point that has some truth to it (criticism from a professional is more valid than from someone with no experience besides consummation) and decides it makes sense before running with it far past the point of being reasonable.

E: I had forgotten how much Kiwi Blitz owned. I think it went on indefinite hiatus at one point and I gave up on it, I really need to catch up

Man, Derelict doesn't update often, but it's a good webcomic.

Never really know what to expect from it though, it went from Dang Thu Mai as a robust survivalist out in the wild to an awkward misfit in a bustling society, and now it's a horrible monster woman trying to live a relatively normal life.

What?

I think at one point in a previous thread I talked poo poo about Bittersweet Candy Bowl. I kept up with it for whatever reason and at this point it's become one of the few webcomics I check religiously now.

I thought all the drama being swept under the carpet was bad writing, but it's become clear that it was pretty intentional and the last few storylines have basically been watching the group get more and more fractured and strained. It's pure high school drama, but it's actually done pretty well and absolutely doesn't seem to pull punches when poo poo starts going down.

No updates on their Twitter or Facebook since August 2015, no updates on Tumblr for a year, website still just shows covers for Colonial Souls, which concluded in January 2015.
The artist still works on Balderdash! and is active on Twitter. The writer is still active on twitter, and is the creator of the Roll20 app (which still seems to be in active use/development), but posted this to his tumblr back in May 2016 about Orr:

“Indefinite hiatus.” Another comic project comes first, and then some searching for new artists… but I have more I want to say with those characters. No timeline, just intentions.

Considering how much attention it's gotten, I'd bet we never see it come back and it's yet another 'indefinite hiatus' comic that is actually 'infinite hiatus'.

This guy raises a lot of questions just by existing. He seems to be a long tailed opossum, not a short tailed. I would have expected there to be a few short tail families of wealth and prestige, given Our Boy Freddy, but a long tail comes as a surprise. I'm curious how his family overcame both institutional disadvantage and sheer lifespan disadvantage to hack it in upper crust society.

Not to say it's implausible, I just think it's ~interesting worldbuilding~

He is now, obviously, but was his family always? That's what I'm talking about when I say he raises interesting questions.

The framing ("he grew up in wealth and luxury") tells us he was born into wealth and luxury, not that he suddenly came into it himself after all. He's at least second generation money, so it seems unlikely Chicadino is responsible for the original fortune. Possibly maintaining it though, yes.

Chicadino may not be responsible personally but a highly placed possum could very well be valuable enough as a magic-proof pawn that it would be worthwhile to spend 30 years grooming one, if you were a nefarious organization with a sufficiently long term view.

Which is plausible! But we don't know, thus it's interesting. Did they rise to wealth on their own (and if so, how) and latch onto Chicadino's patronage in hard times? Did Chicadino astroturf them from the start? Both of these seem believable to me.

Real world minorities also don't have a (non environmentally caused) life span that is literally a half to a third of what the rest of society can expect. Remember that Lily can't realistically aspire to be a doctor because she'd be dead by time she's qualified.

Also I don't think opossums are normally legally considered property. Just non persons. Which is worse because property at least has value!
