This one is designed to be a lot more like an open world game so if you do the main story straight through it isn't that long (shorter than previous ones). Unlike other FF games you're clearly offered lots and lots of side quests from the very beginning of the game though. I don't think the game really designed around people ignoring all of them.

New chapter is up! So Eileen is Erza's mother after all...and maybe Acnologia is her father? Sure, why not. I can't actually remember if there was anything in the Eileen vs. Acnologia fight to support or refute this. I'm a little surprised that Eileen claims that being Erza's mother means nothing to her, since in the past there's been a vague suggestion that she feels something about being a parent, although exactly what is unclear. Also, since she bothered to mention it, either it matters to her on some level or she assumes it matters to Erza. Though given how inconsistent Dimaria's characterization was, it's probably pointless to read too much into it.

Wendy mentioned that Erza and Eileen had the same scent, but I'm pretty sure in the last few chapters Sting said something along the lines that parents and children have their own distinct scent. I'm probably reading too much into this, and it's probably just more inconsistent writing from Mashima. I guess he was playing too much FF this week so I'll give this one a pass.
