They're part of the nightshade family but so are a lot of edible plants like potatoes, peppers, and eggplants. Native Americans were growing tomatoes as a food crop for thousands of years before Europeans discovered them. But I do like the notion of some 18th century botanist taking a poisonous plant and saying to himself "I will not rest until this is food."

It's been said before, but I love Newspaper Spider-Man. Also IMO Ronan was pretty boring in the movie, hopefully he'll be more interesting after Lee's done with him. And I bet the reason he looks like some weird DOOM Thor right now is that the colorist has no idea who Ronan is. e: I want to see how he looks like on Sundays

Yeah Batiuk I'm sure McCarthy would've just let someone he accused grandstand like that, he was just so well known for his polite listening ability and patience. He was definitely undone by a well-reasoned argument and not television coverage exposing him as a petty bully.
