Where you in a coma during the first 4 years of Obama? The DEA (thanks to the Obama admin and people like Holder) was raiding and incarcerating dispensaries and growers left and right. This is what led to the total legalization in places like Colorado.

He was a bad president. The country is no better off than it was 8 years ago (unless you're wealthy, of course) and now the few pitiful things he did get around to passing are going to get deleted by the Republicans.

I feel like there's only 2 approaches on this one:

Trump method: deny reality, say it never happened and you can't prove otherwise

Honesty: Yep, that happened and I acknowledge it but at the same time that's not me anymore because people change.

I agree, I'm just saying he needs to the latter, and soon - maybe do a press conference or something before there's a DNC vote just to get it out there. It would be a good test of his messaging ability.

Yes she's the only person who wasn't able to give a single succinct catch-all response to head off a complex, evolving situation.

Anyway lets save this post for when we get NYT articles in March about Ellison's past being Bad Optics.

Third approach: admit you believe in the Nation of Islam and say that we must restart the space program in a big way to reinvent a mother wheel so that we can put Americans to work creating mountains. This will help fix climate change as we re-balance the earth.

And I get that Chomsky isn't infallible and he has apparently had some problems, but his spreading his work would definitely help more Democrats come around on foreign policy that isn't constantly committing heinous war crimes.

Think of it like this: socialist and communist parties spread material all throughout the US. Most people didn't dig all of the pamphlets, but the spread of the views in them helped us get some good stuff done.

Keith Ellison is going to be DNC chair; even Chuck Schumer got the message early and said he'd support him.

I hope he's capable, because I'd love to see a Democratic Party that actually gives a poo poo.

I like how Obama was blasted for being black, yet did nothing progressive or helpful for the black community while president. He left them in the dust. All the rage from Reps with none if the benefits for Dems and minorities.

Actually, uh...what has Obama accomplished? I genuinely can't think of much other than Obamacare, and all of the good stuff (SSM, LGBT non-discrimination, etc.) was by the Justice Department, State legislatures, or cabinet members. Which, uh, we've completely lost.

What is his legacy, anyway?

The ACA will be remembered as the foot in the door that put us on the path to a reasonable healthcare system. The genie is out of the bottle in the sense that you can't just revoke 20 million people's health insurance and expect the electorate to be happy. It's a lovely model with a ton of problems, but no other system got it right on their first try.

Of course, since Brother is a fairy tale, provoking the reform-minded populist into having a public racist meltdown actually doomed his candidacy.
