I wish they'd keep their "what people are saying about Chapo" segment at the end of the show rather than opening with it. It's all still good, I just like the real content up front.

"give your money to women" isn't strict findom, it's more like a kind of individually motivated gender reparations program proposed by multiple grifters on twitter, based on a weird twisting of silvia federici's writing about uncompensated and unrecognized women's work as the basis of capitalism to be about sending women money as a kind of wokeness indulgence. more here: https://medium.com/@ericawest/give-women-your-money-radical-feminism-in-an-age-of-choice-2d4a0bb40dae#.aag2kmn2b i'm personally a little bit skeptical of anyone who doesn't read federici &c. arguing for a radically redefined definition of "labour" to include gender-role-specific tasks like housework or child-rearing as arguing for a specific radical change to force a new understanding of what a "working class" consists of, to brute-force gender pay equity, and to liberate women from the concept of marriage and romantic relations as a means to achieve some kind of financial security. the ultimate goal is a destruction of traditional patriarchal gendered relations and a restructuring of labour relations under capitalism in order to create *university degree guy cough* a dialectic that's more likely to resolve in the end of the capitalist order and achievment of an autonomous marxist society. or something like that. i'm not an expert. anyway it's pretty clear that that's not what the GYMTW thing is about, and the only thing in that erica west piece that's really a bit shocking to me is the odd question at the end that's like "what on earth would this program look like, and who'd pay for it? the state? individual men?" federici explicitly states, several times, that the point isn't that women would then proceed to get paid but specifically that they could refuse the pay and thus the work, forcing a total reworking of gender relations. i have my own problems with this too, again, personally (i think it's based pretty heavily on antiquated gender roles [irony racism: ey, that's italy for ya, spicy meataball]; i i tend to think that outside of a workplace environment where your emotions are your surplus labour the idea of "emotional labour" is often rendered pretty slippery in a way i suspect is mostly designed to work as a nuclear button for arguments; i think the idea of replicating labour relations in the home so that women can, on an individual or Spike Lee's Chi-raq style basis, go on vagina strike is faulty because it just creates a smaller, specific labour market subject to the same kinds of inequalities we see in capital writ large), but i could probably be pretty easily convinced to not have those problems any more with the right arguments. especially since federici's argument is a hell of a lot more focused on the endgame of a more just and equal society in a marxist tradition than tricking guys in warby parker glasses into saying "So sorry on behalf of all men for the emotional labour you faced online today" while paypalling you $50 to help fund you tweeting about how palestine isn't a real instance of settler colonialism because zion was there the whole time https://twitter.com/chiefelk/status/654881575906050048

the short version of that post is that "give your money to women" isn't even a proper sexual findom thing, it's just about as pure a grift as you can run on gullible twitter performative wokeness people
|
# ? Dec 1, 2016 10:29 |
you've got a way better handle on it than I do, but even still, I'm pretty sure that many of the woke performance artists of Twitter are getting chubs when they send money to Chief Elk while apologizing profusely.

those people have a priapism because some part of their brains severely misunderstands the contextual use of the words "gently caress white guys" here's a good interview with silvia federici btw... she's very smart and has, like i said, a pretty contiguous political program https://viewpointmag.com/2015/04/15/witchtales-an-interview-with-silvia-federici/

The stuff about uncompensated housework kind of sounds like the "Wages for Housework" movement by Selma James in 1970's Italy, except with a white guilt paypal angle. hoo boy, those tweets though... you'd think a self-described indigenous rights activist would have sympathy for a people forced and displaced from their homes and corralled into meager encampments by a military power who claims it's their divine right to do so.

Yeah, same movement. James and Federici worked on it together in Italy iirc. quote:hoo boy, those tweets though... you'd think a self-described indigenous rights activist would have sympathy for a people forced and displaced from their homes and corralled into meager encampments by a military power who claims it's their divine right to do so. twitter poisons people's minds and embiggens the boldest frauds
