it is really weird and dumb that the TCC and The Goon Doctor sub-forums hasn't been shut down. imo, in those two forums, SA is lending legitimacy for people with unverified credentials to give out medical advice. the argument about keeping TCC and The Goon Doctor open; that people might go somewhere else for health-related info is just stupid imo. if you have the means to shut down people with unverified credentials giving out medical advice, then you should do that. you don't support a source of potential misinformation because Yahoo Answers exists and might potentially give out worse advice. that's a fantastically stupid low bar to adhere to when it comes to deciding what is a source of information on medical issues that you want to support. every so often (when a TCC regular dies), a discussion pops up about whether TCC should be closed down, and as far as i remember, there isn't a single argument other than the above, and the extremely idiotic view that TCC is justified by being a comedy honey pot.

I think goon doctor is probably the worst. There are people there that tell every poster to go to a real doctor but those aren't the posters that get listened to. It's a bunch of hypochrondriacs that only want validation and refuse to see a doctor and learn the truth that they aren't special and just have the flu or something instead of kuru. The only explanation for it being kept open is goons will rather frequently post their dick unprompted which is occasionally funny and/or gross.

It's life, it's not loving Mass Effect. It's not a game of just what you want or the nuclear option. You'd think nobody negotiated a goddamn contract before. Relatively little inflection in voice or facial features. It just wasn't as refined a craft like it is now. The old actors. Like the old gymnasts, just arent as good as modern day.

"The truth is never in the middle" actually means "I'll never admit that I'm wrong" or "I'm completely unwilling to compromise".

It is good to be flexible with one's principles. Not in every situation, mind you, and certainly not on every issue, but just as a general rule, it's no great sin to take one step back so you can take two steps forward.

Prairie Home Companion is boring. Must be a Midwest thing. Or northern Midwest thing, since it's out of St. Paul, MN. I grew up in Las Vegas. My Iowa native parents love it. Agreed! Giving people gifts is the best part of any gift-giving holiday. I love birthdays, and Xmas, and Valentine's Day, and anything else that I get to buy something for someone. Watching their eyes light up or get misty because you care about them is fantastic. Also seeing my niece and nephew jump around because their Uncle Solice bought them a crazy weird gift they didn't even know they wanted puts me in a good mood for weeks after.

Because I don't follow the property or its related community too closely, I'm not sure if this is unpopular or not, but I can't shake the feeling it would be: I legitimately like the Warhammer 40k setting and story. Not because it's Hard Men Making Hard Decisions, not because it's a way to indirectly say you like fascism. I like it because it's a grand tragedy. The galaxy is hosed from a variety of angles, and if ~this~ or ~that~ happened differently, it could've resulted in something better. But what's done is done; every side is fighting against the dying of the light as much as they can.
