They outperformed their pythag by 8 games last season, and their rotation is terrible. Even in the AL Central Duffy/Kennedy/Ventura/Gee?/Young?? is going to struggle to make .500.

The Royals will probably be about .500 with the current lineup and rotation; it'll be a huge ask to get a wild card spot and they probably aren't going to be winning the central for several more years. On the other hand the city will absolutely love a .500 team and they'll probably make a lot more money with at least a peripheral contender than they would with yet another last place + high draft pick wasted on bust pitcher strategy so that might be where DM is taking this.

Is there a stat that measures SLG - OBP? Something similar to ISO but replace AVG with OBP in the equation. If Trumbo played for the Rockies I think he'd set that record, whatever the hell that may be.

The problem for Edwin is that teams just keep finding cheaper (or shorter term) options. The Jays picked up Pearce and Morales (lol), Sox picked up Moreland, Astros picked up Beltran, etc. I don't know who else out there is looking for an EE except maybe Cleveland if they'd spend the money? Colorado if the weird rear end note about Desmond at 1B are false (probably) and they're willing to do another big signing (probably not) e: oh maybe Texas. lol imagine if that happened The Berzerker fucked around with this message at 19:58 on Dec 7, 2016 |

Bring back David Ortiz and David Ross but hired by MLB to drive a vintage Mustang to each ballpark and in between give the local restaurants the Guy Fieri treatment and make them eat all the overproduced $30 weird ballpark food they do nowadays Dingers, Davids and Drives

I feel like the Royals when dealing with the Cubs should have made a move for Schwarber. I guess maybe they did but I also think that Davis+ for Schwarber is a lot more attractive especially given the Royals current lack of fat guys to DH.

Cubs weren't willing to trade Schwarber for someone like Andrew Miller with years of control. That front office seems to value and like Schwarber as much as(if not more than) Bryant and Rizzo.
